My ds said he'd like a digital watch that measures steps etc... can anyone recommend a good, cheapish version suitable for a nine year old?

The Xiaomi band are brilliant, my boys (11 & 9) have had them for 2 years now. They only need to charge about every 10 days, they record steps, set alarms, count laps of the pool, track runs. Pretty much everything my garmin does but for a fraction of the price!

We got dgd a HUAWEI one from curry’s in August. She loves it and we are planning on getting another for dgs for Christmas.
DH does lots of research and these came up well.

I got a great one on Amazon for around 15 pounds and use it for the gym. It has lots of functions and I only need to charge it once a fortnight

I have an ID115Plus HR which was cheap from Amazon. I charge it about once a fortnight. The app to sync it is a bit flaky and loses your data when you change timezone (but suspect that may not be as big a deal for a 9 year old). Straps are a disposable item - probably last 6-9m before replacement (also cheap).

Otherwise it's convenient to charge as you remove the strap and plug directly into any USB charger, and has lasted four or five years on my wrist. Has different modes for different sports, also measures heart rate and acts as a pretty effective alarm clock.
