Had a shit christmas tree every year since I can remember because we couldn't afford anything else.

I have some cash this year to spend on proper decorations and want to buy a decent (but not real) tree that will hold up for years to come.

Any recommendations? The cheaper the better but have about 2-300 set aside and will spend more for quality!

Balsam hill

Choosingtochange · 02/11/2021 13:21

I got the frosted 8 foot from Very last year and it's stunning and amazing quality🎄

www.homebase.co.uk/6ft-norway-spruce-artificial-christmas-tree/12914792.html I got this one 3 years ago and it's lovely. It's now £115 although I only paid £80 so it's gone up a hell of a lot!

We have the pre-lit 5ft, absolutely perfect.

So easy to put up, once the initial fluffing has been done out of the packaging.

Read Balsam Hill complaints page on Facebook, before shelling out for one of their trees.

I'm so disappointed with my balsam hill £££ tree. Am replacing with Dunelm this year.

Babymamaroon · 04/11/2021 13:46

I have 2 beautiful Balsam Hill and absolutely adore them!

Sorry others haven't had as good an experience with them.

20viona · 04/11/2021 13:47

I got an amazing tree Off very last year it was about £180. It's so real looking.

Ghoulette · 05/11/2021 09:29

Ooh a few options! Thanks everyone, I will take a look. It looks like I can get something quite nice for a lot cheaper than I imagined, too!

Ah some mixed reviews about Balsam Hill which is disappointing, as the tree you linked @FinallyHere is the one that was at the top of the list!

Will have a good read around then make a decision...

Balsam Hill trees are overrated. I bought 2 and was was so disappointed with them even after fluffing and following the instructions to the letter. I bought this one from Christmas Tree World last year. The quality and shape are much better than Balsam Hill imo.

Mantlemoose · 05/11/2021 09:38

Balsam Hill absolutely stunning although would make do this year and buy in January sales! If it's not right you can send it back

I agree that Christmas Tree World are excellent. The one you mention seems to be out of stock (maybe not in all sizes) but I recommend their Woodland Pine. We have a magnificent 8 foot version and DS liked it so much he bought 6ft one

I really don’t like full Christmas trees, we have 2 of these

Sorry for the awful long link. The tree looks quite sparse but it means that I can pack it full of decorations. Here are pics of our 2 from last year.

We bought one from Homebase a couple of years ago. I can't see the exact one on their website now but it's very similar to the one linked by @degsydoodoos. It looks very realistic and we've had several visitors have to touch it to prove to themselves it's fake.

Jsgdud · 05/11/2021 13:19

We have this one from B&Q. It's great and looks like a real tree.

Mine is from Morrison's, I've had it about 7 years, it's not mega expensive but looks lovely. The beauty of not spending loads is I won't feel guilty when I buy a new one next year, I fancy one that looks like it is covered in snow, I've never paid much more than £60 in all the years I have had a tree.
