Hi all,

Does anyone know if a purchased ticket is needed to enter?

Me and DP are thinking of going on 20th December.

I have tried looking online but no luck Confused

Thank you x

Thank you for this thread. I don't know Manchester at all and I've never been to a big Christmas market so all and any tips are gratefully received!

I've read two common responses when idly googling: people who love it; people who hate it.

It's like asking about our North Norfolk coastline. Some people rave about it, local folk other people moan about it being crowded and awful.

I hope they have thinned out the market a bit.
A couple of times in Albert Square it has been so rammed that if you are caught up in walking in the middle lane between the stalls that there is no way of escaping it to visit the stalls due to the sheer number of people squeezed in around you and determined to walk straight ahead.

Hoppinggreen · 03/11/2021 16:23

No need for a ticket
I don’t think they are doing the Albert square one this year but I never really liked it anyway, it was crowded but also fenced in so felt very claustrophobic. The one in St Anne’s square is better

Yes certainly better in St Anne’s Square. People more evenly spaced and can actually get to walk up to the stalls.

Looks like pp's are right and there won't be a market in Albert Sq this year:

Still lots to visit though.

Thank you so much everyone Grin we are looking forward to it.

Despite a train cost of £200.00 for us... wondering if it's cheaper to drive?!

I will be there on 20th too!
Staying at The midland hotel on 19th even though we only live 40 minutes away - might see you!
Driving might be cheaper

@Hoppinggreen Ah wonderful!! Have a fantastic time. We are staying in the Holiday Inn, looked ok when I booked it so fingers crossed 🤞🏻

I think we will end up driving Smile
