Inspired by the kids games thread. I am looking for new games to play with my friends for the Christmas period.
We like: classics: (scrabble, trivial pursuit etc), strategy (risk, Catan), funny (shot in the dark, cards against Disney).

Any recommendations appreciated, we will likely have a good few afternoons to fill Grin.

MNHQ Update
This thread is a few years old now, but if you've landed here while on the hunt for board game ideas, our guide to the best board games has been recently updated to reflect current availability. Though many options are geared towards younger players, it includes a large number of more adult-friendly board games too - all tried, tested and approved by Mumsnetters. We hope it's helpful! I second 221B Baker Street. Also love Balderdash, a timeless classic! Pictionary Air looks good? As does Taskmaster the board game. And my family really enjoyed the Crystal Max board game. We also love Exploding Kittens and Throw Throw Burrito and Disney’s Villainous is weirdly addictive!

We really liked Chameleon. Easy to learn, you can sit in comfy chairs as no table required, and any number of players. Can also take as long or as short as you want - you could just play one round or multiple. We found it very funnt

I’ve bought a fair few games over the last year form here travellingman.com/ since lockdown, brilliant service! And random fact, his partner is Kim-Joy from GBBO
