Ideas for my SIL

My husband’s brother and wife live abroad but are coming back to the UK for Christmas this year. I don’t know my SIL very well because we’ve never lived in the same country for the 15 years we’ve known each other.

My DH and I usually buy a ‘couple’ gift to have delivered to them, but this year there’s something specific my DH wants to buy for his brother so we will be buying SIL an individual gift too. But I don’t know what!

She turned 40 earlier this year, she loves fashion, especially shoes and bags, running and they recently moved from flat into a house with their first garden they’re pretty excited about. No kids.

Any ideas what we could buy her? Budget is probably £20-25. TIA!

Depends on her style. But what about a nice scarf or shawl?

Astrid and miyu earrings? I'm 45 and love them quite delicate and fit in with anything I think and easy to transport home!

A voucher for a big garden centre
Pretty lantern for the garden
Running gloves
Cool shopper bag

For running I would suggest a buff, a wooly hat/visor (depending on weather where they live!) or perhaps some funky leggings/shorts from llama leisure/tikiboo/Lucy locket loves.

I don't think I'd go for clothes or anything if you don't really know her that well. If they've just moved house I would go for something like a nice candle / diffuser or a photo frame. Or if she drinks you cant go wrong with a bottle of her favourite.

Thanks for the ideas. I did wonder about a nice scarf but they’ll be flying back into their summer so decided against. I’m not about garden centres in their home country or what their local centres are so that one seems a bit risky. Jewellery or a bottle of something seems like a good option and easy to transport back home (or drink while here!) Will look into the running gear but I really have no idea what she has or would need or like! Thanks for the leads though.

What about a cotton or silk dress scarf rather than a knitted one?

A personalised Dibbler from not on the high street. An implement for planting seeds/seedlings. Or a seed box.

Catflapkitkat · 01/11/2021 02:44

Sorry OP it's a DIBBER

Not terribly exciting perhaps, but nearly all the runners in my family have given each other one of these over the last year; they love them!

(Sorry, I forgot I wasn't on facebook so it won't preview - it's a phone holder for running which sits on your chest rather than those massive armband things)

Joma jewellery.
They do lovely bracelets for £15

Definitely jewellery as easy to take home and lots of choice plus it's a personal gift
