Present for DD 4 1/2

Need some main present inspiration for DD please! Or even just a couple of other ideas. find her very difficult to buy for. She has a lot of the obvious large items - scooter, bike etc. Although she does try to do tricks on her scooter I think she's probably a bit young for a 2 wheel/ stunt scooter. She's never shown much interest in dolls and we don't have a ton of space so I don't want to buy something large like a doll's house if it will be ignored. She has some Sylvanian Families stuff, which she plays with sometimes but not often enough for me to think she needs more. She loves unicorns but has several soft toy unicorns, and a unicorn onesie, and I'm struggling to think of other unicorn-related stuff that I could get.

So far I have:

  • basic Lego starter set (she loves Duplo but has outgrown it really)
  • Supergirl dress-up costume
  • grandparent getting her a light-up tracing box
  • ....errr, that's it.

She likes: Duplo, swimming, gymnastics, magformers (she has lots of these), drawing (has plenty of kit), reading (will get her some books). Not very into 'girly' stuff like styling heads etc and frankly I hate that stuff being marketed at her age group anyway.

Any inspiration gratefully received!

My DD will turn 5 just before Christmas but she is getting a leapfrog leap reader - they hold the pen over the words and it reads the story to them, comes with 10 books. Plus the vtech kiddizoom camera.

She’s getting a wooden bracelet making kit I found on NOTHS and swim games like hungry hippos and orchard ones around learning to tell the time and maths.

Then some smaller bits like an outfit for her baby Annabelle and a magazine, headband set and a frozen bath bomb.

Plus whatever she decides to spring on us when she tells Santa what she wants!!

Learning resources science kits and an at home experiment book

For the lego get one of those amazing draw string bags to store it in.

A puzzle you may be able to get one gymnastics themed or her favourite cartoon or Disney one

SkankingMopoke · 30/10/2021 10:21

If she loves her Duplo but has grown out of it, I would definitely be getting her Lego. I would get a box of basic bricks, a selection of Wilkos or other 3rd party brand 'Lego' base boards (knock off Lego is shite, but the base boards are perfectly OK IME), and one age 4+ proper set. I would also get a few mini figures for her stocking.
And yes to the PP who mentioned the drawstring bag/mat! They're fab. Get the largest you can to accommodate the future collection...

Happyelfjokeday · 30/10/2021 11:11

Playmobil? Loads of different sets so can choose based on what she’s into (go for ones with lots of people/animals is my view for that age rather than the houses etc)
Or how about a kids camera?

Folding gymnastics floor balance beam has been a huge hit with friends DD5.

My 5 year old is getting a Yoto player as his main present

Number109 · 31/10/2021 07:14

My eldest was 4.5 last year and we bought her a room on the broom cookbook, a globe (we bought a plain one but the new vtech globe looks fab), a couple of board games and a marble run which was probably her favourite present.

These are really helpful, thank you 😊

Definitely a small 4+ lego set too,it will almost instantly end up jumbled in with the rest of the lego, but she'll enjoy sitting with you, STEM skills and the minifigures add a lot of play value to lego.
Definitely not too young for a 2 wheeler scooter, but could wait until 5th Birthday if you wanted. Mine were all looking a bit too big on their toddler 3 wheelers by 4.5 /5.
Board games, connect 4, snakes and ladders and the like.

Car garage if she doesn't have one? My daughter loves it. Hot wheels are great too. But also loves her dolls house and sylvanian families.

CountessOlenka · 31/10/2021 18:17

@SantaIsComingToTown did you get your kids the Micro Sprite or a different one? Might still wait until her birthday but I had been eyeing it up, though she's probably a bit too small for it at the moment (she is an actual sprite at 104cm and under 15kg).
