I have mine ! it's not so much the looking up of tv programs to watch -it's more the tradition of having the double RT (and the notrmal RTs building up before the double one - we now have three in our house !)

Brandnewchristmaspyjamasgirl · 11/12/2007 11:50

I only ever buy it at Christmas it's my little tradition

isaidhohoho · 11/12/2007 11:50

We bought ours yesterday!

JingJanglingBexieHoHoHo · 11/12/2007 11:57

LOL, I used to do that when I lived at home! Now we buy TV & Sattelite!

leoandmummy · 11/12/2007 12:06

I'll be buying mine today. My mum bless her bought us one each when i was little. Christmas has arrived!!!

bigfatbump · 11/12/2007 12:09

Is anybody else old enough to remember when you used to have to buy a radio tiimes for BBC listings and a tv times for itv?

ibblewob · 11/12/2007 12:30

Mine is already bought and highlighted! Love that bit - def. a Christmas tradition. Seems to be less and less each year that I want to watch though

Brandnewchristmaspyjamasgirl · 11/12/2007 12:34

I get so over excited by it it means it's nearly Christmas !!!

OP posts:
Hulababy · 11/12/2007 12:45

bigfatbump - LOL, yes, I remember that!

OrmIrian · 11/12/2007 12:47

'Tis part of Christmas. Never bother the rest of the year. Like the big puzzle bit of the Independent - Dh and I always argue over whether we do the jumbo puzzle with the cryptic or the baby clues

Brandnewchristmaspyjamasgirl · 11/12/2007 12:50

I remember it too big fat bump.

And me!

WalkinginaWonkaWonderland · 11/12/2007 13:00

So I'm not the only one who goes ga-ga over the Christmas Radio Times - y'aaay .
Useless trivia: apparently the ads in this issue cost more than in any other UK publication...I wish I knew about more important stuff

kittylouise · 11/12/2007 13:08

Oh I love all this Christmas stuff. Loved (LOVED) it as a child when the Radio Times appeared in the newsagent (the TV Times didn't cause the same level of excitement). Cue rustling to the Christmas Day page (page borders all patterned) to find out what the Christmas Day afternoon film premier was. Remember being very excited when it was Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade!

Also used to get excited when the BBC Christmas continuity whatsits used to start.

That and Noel's Christmas Presents, and the carols from King's College, Cambridge.

Oh god kids today don't know what they missed! What are ipods compared to this? (old fart emoticon)

Brandnewchristmaspyjamasgirl · 11/12/2007 13:10

My dad used to make us watch the christmas lectures !

Hands up all those who pull out the annoying travel brochure that always stapled in the middle...

Yes, me - but we were only allowed to buy the Radio Times!

kittylouise · 11/12/2007 13:12

Oh yes - who the hell wants to think about camping holidays to Cleethorpes in June at Christmas time???

Brandnewchristmaspyjamasgirl · 11/12/2007 13:13

I pull out the travel brochure

OP posts:
kittylouise · 11/12/2007 13:14

lol fortyplus.

Only in England could there be a class distinction between TV listings guides!

My gran was the same, TV Times was 'common'.
