What's cool make up wise for 16 year olds?

I'm looking to get some make up palettes for a 16 year old I know, what's cool at the moment? Would like to surprise her so don't want to ask her and I think her mum would be as clueless as me!

Likely to buy from Cult Beauty or Feel Unique but there are so many on there I don't know what to go for (I am a make up junky myself but the stuff I buy wouldn't interest her as I'm 20 years older!)

Environmental impact is important to my teens. And they love a good eyeliner

Glossier, Morphe, Huda spring to mind!

Benefit

It was Urban Decay a couple of years ago, not sure now.

Morphe
Mac
Benefit
All popular with DD 17

fantasmasgoria1 · 25/10/2021 22:14

It depends on how much money you want to spend. Morphe, too faced, mac, huda, glosdier etc are not cheap. Revolution beauty is very reasonable and there is a very wide range of stuff.

MangoIce · 25/10/2021 22:49

What do you mean by “makeup palettes”? Eyeshadow? Highlighters?

Kjr33 · 25/10/2021 23:04

Sigma and viseart

Sorry should have specified eye shadow mainly

Thanks to the posters who suggested Anastasia and Huda, I have some of those myself but they are a bit more than I would want to spend, I was thinking more of the £15-£20 range but don't want to end up with something 'cheap' if you get my meaning, I'd like good value for money with good pigmentation etc

I have bought this for my daughter.

Boots do £10 Tuesdays, and sometimes include palettes - think they have been including branded names. Also might be worth keeping an eye out for black Friday deals - depending on when you need to buy for.

Topbird29 · 26/10/2021 13:40

Looks like the urban decay on offer today are out of stick. There are some nice hula ones and some mac ones for £26-£27, but they may be a little over budget. Fenty is also a good brand.

MangoIce · 26/10/2021 13:41

I use high end eye shadow palettes, but Revolution eye shadow palettes (Superdrug) are supposed to have great colour pay off! I’ve seen women use them on YouTube.

nopatience00 · 26/10/2021 13:48

Revolution eye shadow palettes are incredible and super affordable

nopatience00 · 26/10/2021 13:50
  • makeup Revolution I meant!
Bigoldhag · 26/10/2021 16:31

If you want more budget, Revolution or Sleek. And as someone else said, some Boots Tuesday deals are really good.

Great thanks I will have a look!

DD17 wouldn’t thank me for revolution. Could be worth waiting for Black Friday deals. This is a good buy for everyday looks.

From age 13 + my dsis only used Mac or Benefit. So that was our go to for her

nancy75 · 26/10/2021 22:17

If my 16 year old is anything to go by just get a 10 gallon pot of black eyeliner!
She likes KVD or benefit
