Oodie substitute

I want to buy my 2 teens oodies. We're big on camping and lounging around and they both have old dressing gowns so seems a perfect choice tbh. But budget wise a little too much as a secondary present. I know they have offers but I want to spend under £30 each.

There's loads of choice online for oodie style fleeces with mixed reviews. Has anyone bought an oodie-alike which they can recommend?

The Primark ones are £17 or so and get good reviews!

blibblibs · 22/10/2021 23:29

We have two each of the Sienna ones from amazon. £18 - £25 depending on the colour and love them

Thanks will look at these 👍👍

I got the sienna ones from onlinehomeshop. They seem lovely.

yoshiblue · 23/10/2021 09:17

Next do them - Google poncho on their site. I think they go up to teen sizes

nachocheese · 23/10/2021 09:45

My daughter and I both have these, they're brilliant ones. Plus supporting a small business rather than the likes of Primark or Next.

Another vote for the Sienna. We have two and an Oodie to compare with - the difference with the Oodie cost cannot be justified.

SoupDragon · 23/10/2021 09:51

I have two Sienna ones from last Christmas. One was double layered and absolutely gorgeous, one was single layered and poor quality. Both from onlinehomeshop.

Both are now rough and clumpy on the inside bit. (They've been worn a lot though!) Do the genuine Oodies do this?

HappySantasaurus · 23/10/2021 09:55

We have some from OnlineHomeShop which have been really good so far. Not as fun patterns etc, but only about £15 or so each.

Puffinhead · 23/10/2021 10:01

I bought 2 Sienna ones last year from Amazon and was initially happy with them. The DC loved them, but within a week some of the seams had come undone - not too bad as I’m handy with a needle but still a pain.

Puffinhead · 23/10/2021 10:02

However, I have washed them a few times (in a pillow case) and they seem to be ok.

entrytohr · 23/10/2021 10:09

Another vote for house of harman here. Fab quality, and supporting small

Mintyt · 23/10/2021 12:11

@SoupDragon I have brought the sienna ones as gifts 2 years ago and they are fine but have started to fall apart with use. I treated myself to a oodie ( in a moment of madness) and I bloody love it, so so much better than the siennas has washed up well, it's aslo much bigger

Lovemusic33 · 23/10/2021 15:05

We have the dunelm ones and they are amazing, dd1 had one from somewhere else for her birthday and moans that it’s not long enough and she kept eyeing up my dunelm one so I have bought her one for Christmas, they are huge and I can tuck my legs into it.

HoppingPavlova · 23/10/2021 15:18

Make sure they wear thick bottoms if taking it camping. I have an Oodie, so meant to be longer than most imitations, and I didn’t realise how cold your legs get in it. Tbh, legs warmer in long dressing gown. I’m really short as well at 5’ so not sure how more average size people go with their legsHmm.

GiantCheeseMonster · 23/10/2021 15:55

I’ve just ordered the DCs personalised ones from House of Harman on the back of this thread Grin

HomeSliceKnowsBest · 23/10/2021 20:52

Kuddly are way better than Oodies and have good offers on at the moment.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 24/10/2021 09:32

My DH and I have the Sienna ones too and they are beautifully warm…but not very long. Although we are both tall. I’ve bought all my DC the Dunelm ones this year. They are much thinner (which would suit them) but gorgeously soft and longer. They are super cheap at £16 too.

Legoisawesome · 24/10/2021 09:50

I just bought kuddly and they seem great quality though I’ve squirrelled them away for Christmas.

frazzledfragglefromfragglerock · 24/10/2021 10:14

Thanks all! Might pop over to finely later for a look before I decide! The house of Harman ones look lovely but the colours are no good.

I got ds a £12 amazon one last year, it was by far his favourite present and still used now! It's been well lived in has a few holes (around the armpit) but for the price and the usage i cannot complain, this year i have managed to get the play station primark one which is enormous and looks super cosy it was £23 but i know it's also going to end up in a similar state and will need a day to wash/dry.

WeeM · 27/10/2021 23:23

Next have got one-comes in a range of colours, £24 for the biggest size.
