Anyone else in glitter hell?

I decided to be a good mummy and make decorations with the kids. We got glitter and glue and the decorations look lovely. Unfortunately the whole house now looks like a huge decoration, as do I! It is on every floor in the house and it WON'T GO AWAY! I've showered, hoovered and wiped frantically with wet wipes which are my domestic saviour. And I just moved it around and rubbed it in a bit.

What did I do wrong? I tried to contain it... We had newspaper down, I dust-busted them when they had finished....

Will it come off ME before I give an important presentation tomorrow? I fear my credibility may suffer!

Thanks for the heads up Steala, we are doing this at the weekend with 3 girls, oh the horror

Glitter has a life of its own! My DD had a bit of glitter stuck to her head for the first 3 weeks of her life - courtesy of her cousins kissing her with glittery lip glooss. No matter how many baths she had and how many times I washed her head it always seemed to be there

Oh no, sounds as though I will be giving a presentation looking as though I have come straight from an 80s disco!

I actually have a sort of phobia about it, if I touch a card with it, I'm washing my hands for ages after, cannot do ANYTHING with it.

Luckily most of my close friends know about my phobia and either don't get me cards with it on or make their own.

I HATE GLITTER, I've gone cold just writing about it

OhLittleTownOfBotlehem · 10/12/2007 13:05

My granny's like that, she can't stand the stuff. It gives her the willies. I wonder if glitterphobia has a name?

Ds keeps coming home from nursery with various lovely glittery cards and decorations - the back seat of my car looks like an 80s disco! - afraid you will finding it for weeks (and in the strangest places too!) - there is no escape from it...

Like 'glitterphobia', perhaps

Sorry to upset you Radley. I didn't even think. Sorry!

No steala, you didn't upset me, I just often wonder if there are people out there who are the same as me, so far I haven't heard of anyone, does that make me unique or just plain weird

LegoLeia · 11/12/2007 09:43

If I were you, I would rejoice in my "fantastic Mummy" status, embrace the sparkles and strut in to my presentation with my (spangly) head held high, secure in the knowledge that my kids had a brilliant time and my house looks very festive!

LegoLeia · 11/12/2007 10:49

...and next time, think about glitter glue

Steala · 13/12/2007 08:36

Thanks for the encouragement (and advice about glitter GLUE)! The presentation probably benefitted from an added sparkle anyway!

I don't like glitter, I'm a bit of a freak about things that transfer themselves onto everything you own! I am trying really hard not to let it bother me though!

ChristmasSendsMePsycho · 13/12/2007 08:58

doesn't have to be xmas in my house for it to look as tho a glitter bomb has exploded.

what with the 3 girls dance costumes, plus the fact that all three love the glitter bath boms from lush, and the glitter eyeliner that DD1 has a passion for, well, you can imagine!!!!

even my coffee table has still got glitter embedded in it from a card making session more than 5!!! years ago.

and it doesn't stop there either.....always got sequins about too, and they get into the weirdest places, and not just around the house....I mean on/in the body too.

still, does look festive and tis good for the parties too
