Hello! I love cocktails in the summer but am a bit stumped in the winter, so any ideas welcome please.

Caveats are ...... not creamy ones please!
We do like anything with apple etc and also have a cupboard full of homemade sloe gin, rhubarb vodka, blackberry vodka and damson gin. We also love the festive spices....like cinnamon, nutmeg etc, ans I love ginger wine too!

So any delicious recipes???

@Etherealhedgehog I’m going to have a go at that winter syrup!

@LeNil it's so good, I make it every year. The other thing I always have in (great in coffee) is the gingerbread syrup from www.halfbakedharvest.com/gingerbread-white-russian/ - some great Christmas cocktails on this site though most, like this one, are creamy so don't fit the original request (some not though)

I might try the winter syrup around Xmas time. We made Old Fashioneds for the VE celebrations in 2020 I think it was, and we still have most of the bottle of Bourbon, which is mainly used for soaking raisins for Nigella's banana bread, which I occasionally make.

Nigella also mentions "Santa's little helper" which is just a short drink of 2 parts brandy to 1 part Amaretto and 1 part Cointreau over ice. Sounds lethal in large quantities but I'm thinking of making it to sip whilst wrapping presents or watching a Christmas film.

I made this last New Year's Eve as I fancied something different. It was very nice

How about a Negroni? I find Campari very festive.

AdaColeman · 21/10/2021 23:27

Or while you’ve got the Campari to hand, try a Campari fizz. Add a sugar cube to a flute glass, add a shot of Campari and top up with Prosecco or champagne. You can leave out the sugar if you prefer.
