Doing everyone a stocking

DSis and her family and my DP are all staying with us at Christmas.

In the past I've always done everyone in the house a stocking. This is the first year my DSis is staying that she's had her own kids.

Presumably she's doing stockings for them but do I still do one for her and her DH? Seems a bit weird.

Oh I should just ask her.

They might already do one for each other, or they might not want to do stockings at all. I think your plan to ask her is the right thing to do; if she’s prepared for all of your family having them, she can decide from there.

Just be careful that your stockings don’t conflict with what any children who still believe have been told, you could inadvertently ruin the magic.

Have a chat about it. If she wants to do her family stockings fine, you could suggest that you do a ‘bed present’ for each of them instead. An old boyfriends family used to do this, as they didn’t do stockings at all. Santa left a present for each at the foot of the bed to be opened in the morning, but all the other presents were downstairs under the Christmas tree. It may well be cheaper as well to do one bed present each than lots of things in a stocking.
