The Turkey !!

I'm trying to decide what to get, doesn't help that I'm vegetarian. I want to get one in the freezer in the next few days ideally.

I'm cooking for 2 maybe 3 and want leftovers but not loads. I've decided against a stuffed crown because I'm not sure it'll be great as leftovers.

So, options are,

Ocado delivered M&S frozen Oakham Crown - pre basted so can't be brined !

Frozen Morrison's Turkey crown.

Fresh Turkey crown from butchers and freeze it myself.

I usually get the m+s frozen one. Always delicious and great for leftovers

Morrison's sell Turkey thighs, much better than a crown joint as it's harder to overcook.

Get the butchers one and ask them to vacuum pack it for the freezer

All depends on whether your meat eaters prefer a high standard of turkey, then order one from butchers which will be expensive, but great tasting. I ordered a rolled joint from butcher last year 5 kilos, £95. This year I am going to get a whole turkey about 4.5 kilos, probably cost the same, but none gets wasted. There is 5 adults plus dog. The finest crowns or whole birds in supermarkets are best with no waste. I usually get a frozen turkey about 2.5 kilos for £15 and keep in freezer for a normal Sunday roast.

I’d get a thigh or leg, it’s less dry

I had a look at 1.3kg (ish) frozen crowns at Tesco earlier and they're absolutely tiny, the size of a large chicken, I realise it's all meat but I still would have had a shock if I'd ordered one for delivery.

I got the M&S Oakham crown yesterday and it's in the freezer now! We get it most years and is delish!

We order local. Usually butchers but last year we got from local farmer who we will buy from again this year as taste was unreal
