Looking for recipe ideas for sprouts. No vegetable reaches my Christmas table untouched but I've not seen anything fabulous with sprouts. Please share your best dishes.

Shred them then stir fry with ginger and orange rind, finish off with a squeeze of orange juice

Roast them with lots of horseradish (from a jar, not fresh) and then finish off with loads of parmesan. Delicious.

fry in butter.
add bread crumbs.
add cinnamon.
they are much tastier if still crunchy in the middle imo

After you've decided what to do with them, if you have any left over make sprout coleslaw for your Christmas buffet.

Thinly slice/shred the sprouts (raw), mix with thinly sliced onion, grated carrot and mayonnaise and you have homemade coleslaw 😋

I roast mine with bacon lardons

@Oysterbabe

Parboil them then toss them in marmite and roast. They are lovely.
What????

I love sprouts too. Can't really beat them just steamed to perfection - not too hard, not too soft.

For Xmas I would steam and then gently stir fry in some hot butter with chestnuts and crispy bacon. Yum.

TheQueenOfDreams · 13/10/2021 12:37

Mmmm marmite sprouts. There’s an idea!
I normally just sauté them with some butter and seasoning. Simple but nice, if you like the natural sprout flavour.

I just buy a few for me as no one else will eat them Grin

I do mine with butter and pepper and they are lovely!

I had some at lunch today that needed eating. I had them with green beans and some coconut milk based curry Sauce that I had made that needed eating.

I know it shouldn't go together but it was really nice.

@Workinghardeveryday

Streaky bacon cut into thin strips, pan fried. Mixed with cooked sprouts and a small amount of the fat from the bacon. Works well with all cabbage too!!
With a splash of balsamic

That sounds amazing definitely trying that!

I also cook sprouts with pancetta and chestnuts, then add masala wine.

I looooove sprouts. I don't add any other ingredients, I just par boil them and then fry them up in butter until the outer skins are crispy and browning. Nothing better IMO.

However as I love them so much I was looking into doing a second sprout dish, and Hello Fresh have a recipe for a Sprout, Pancetta and Hazelnut gratin which sounds so yummy.

M & S are also doing a kind of sprout gratin so maybe they are worth it.
