Roller blades or roller skates?

Looking for DD, will be just 6. Sturdy little think but skinny ankles!

We don't have loads of smooth pavements around, but a decent stretch of tarmac path/towpath in a park nearby.

Is one easier than the other for little legs?

Advice much appreciated

Roller skates are easier on the muscles and are a more leisurely form of exercise. Might be the better option if she’s not very fit or a speed queen. It’s also easier to stand and stop on roller skates too. Learning to stop on blades takes more practice and skill.

I would definitely go for quad skates. You can get ones with LED wheels - they look awesome at night.

I would deffiately go with quad roller skates. Roller blades are not great for the ankles. I would also get her some wrist guards incase she falls over.

Sfr Stomper Adjustable Skates, Unisex Children

The name above is what my 4 year old has. On amazon. Shes great on them and because the wheels at the back step wider its extra stability. If not the other sfr ones are good. I prefer the one size skates, however the adjustable ones last longer. I just found my kids didn't find them as comfortable.

Look up Roller derby firestar youth on Amazon
I bought these for my daughter when she was 5 and they are still going strong 2 and a half years later despite having a lot of use. They are lightweight, unlike the ones I got for my elder daughter. Some roller skates are so heavy.

This is brilliant advice thanks all. My memory of skates is heavy!! I'll look up the suggestions, but skates it is!
