Gifts for husband on £25 budget

My imagination is rubbish and I'd love some help. Due to a big holiday next year (hopefully), a few other big expenses and the fact we have a cupboard full of gin and whisky we've decided to stick to a budget of £25 each this year. If anyone has any ideas I would be so grateful.

So far I have bought a book he'd love second hand (and in really good condition), and some of his favourite chocolates on offer. He is ridiculously difficult to buy for at the best of times, but this has just made it a little more challenging.

Hobbies wise he's in to running. He not really into any other sport (though will watch it). Not a big gamer.

I know it's a third world problem, but I thought someone may be on here with the best idea! I don't want to just buy £25 worth of rubbish, we may as well not buy anything rather than do that! Help! Thank you Smile

Running gloves?

MsChatterbox · 10/10/2021 21:40

Any clothes he needs or similar like slippers etc?

Flufferty · 10/10/2021 21:41

Do you mean a first world problem?

Trumpton · 10/10/2021 21:42

ELVIS AND KRESSE KEY RING They are made from decommissioned fire hose and are fab. DH has one with his phone number on.

If you've got the time you can get a lot for your budget in charity shops/ebay/fb. Does he like smellies? Next do some good aftershave dupes. Depending on what running kit he has already there's socks, lights, phone holder.

ImInStealthMode · 10/10/2021 21:49

Bit of a long shot OP but if he's into running is he a keen Parkrunner at all? They have merchandise that can be personalised with his barcode number.

mamiofboys · 10/10/2021 21:55

Thank you for your suggestions. He has most running kit and is super fussy with his clothes (very difficult to buy for). I do think the idea of charity shops is a good one. I will find a couple of hours one day soon and go for a browse.

Parkrun is a good call. He doesn't do it at the moment, but has mentioned wanting to do it a few times. He's currently marathon training and it doesn't fit in his plan 🤷‍♀️

There’s a thread down the bottom of page one about gifts for runners, that might give you a few ideas.

Are you anywhere near the coast? We’ve just bought a trial surf lesson for our niece and nephew for £28 each, which includes wetsuit and use of the board.

How much does it cost to enter something like the London marathon/great north run?

A Chillys water bottle from £15

Where are you going on holiday? Are there any books about running routes? Or any sports training grounds you could book him into? You could search on line for running clubs based there who could point you in the right direction.

A great British adventure map

A monopoly game for your nearest city (I bought DH the Cardiff version, it obviously loses some of the appeal if you live in London!) or his favourite film

Cherryrainbow · 10/10/2021 22:08

Drinking water bottle
Sports towel
Nice toiletry set/sprays
Aftershave (l'homme from next smells lush and is affordable in your budget with money to spare for example)
One of those arm band things to hold his phone whilst running if he listens to music.
Cd for the car/at home
Mini hamper of treats
Mini whiskey and glass set

PigletJohn · 11/10/2021 01:27

Cake.

LowlyTheWorm · 11/10/2021 01:40

If you’ve already got a book and chocolate how much of the £25 is left? @mamiofboys
I got nice coasters recommended here of a map print- of a location that was meaningful to the couple I’ve bought for. It was an Etsy site I think… can’t remember their name though. But something like that of a special location to you and him?
Running socks.
A credit card multi tool
Trainer tags with a nice message engraved

RJnomore1 · 11/10/2021 01:51

Smartphone gloves so he can adjust his playlist while running

Special water bottles for long runs for marathon training

Magnetic race number holders (.rather than safety pins)

mamiofboys · 11/10/2021 05:16

Thank you for some good suggestions. I've never heard of magnetic race number holders so going to google that one.

Our holiday is in Florida, mainly Disney, so probably not much running. I do like the idea of the surfing lesson or something similar so will look into that. I'll also have a look at the aftershaves in Next.

I'll take a look at the other thread too. Thank you

Coffee, I have bought DH some extra strong and some bourbon flavoured.

RJnomore1 · 11/10/2021 11:42

My husband runs as well and it’s hard finding small things for him but he really liked the magnets. Easy to use if you’re there on your own too.

I’m sure you’ll get something good from the ideas now 😁

ImInStealthMode · 11/10/2021 11:45

Oh yes race number magnets are a good shout!! Mine say 'I thought you said Rum' on them (BlushGrin) but there are loads of designs to choose from online.

TuftyMarmoset · 11/10/2021 11:53

If your DH eats bananas, I’ve just bought mine one of those banana boxes to stop it getting squashed in his bag which was about £5

Liverbird77 · 11/10/2021 13:11

How about a resistance band? They are a few quid from Decathlon. I've got one of the heavier ones (red) and I use it for stretching, but could also be used for strength workout.
I found it great when I had sore tendons. He might get use out of it as a runner. Good luck!

That's actually a pretty good idea!

Thank you to everyone for their suggestions. I've got my eye on a couple of things (he's also got a 'big' birthday at the start of the year so I've picked up some ideas for that too!)
