Board games like genius square?

Bought my mum Genius square for Christmas last year and she loved it especially as you can play it solo.

Does anyone know of similar games that you can play on your own as an option?

Someone on here last year linked a wonderful website with the above board game on and it was full of stem games, puzzles and toys and I've totally forgotten what it was called if anyone has any ideas. Might have been US based?
(I ended up ordering the board game from Amazon so don't have it on any emails either)

My DH uses Boardgame Geek to check reviews etc of games.

Road rage or chocolate fix both by thinkfun

I got a flyer in a Sunday paper that had ‘genius [something else]’ in it that I thought “ooh, I must save that and buy presents from there”.

I’ve lost it. Obviously.

I realise this is possibly the least useful reply you’ll get, but you might be able to find it by googling?

Was it Happy Puzzle Company?

Another solo game she might like is Rush Hour by Thinkfun. I'd also look at SmartGames range (they sell on Amazon, not sure where else) particularly IQ Puzzler Pro. It says 6+ but it really gets quite challenging.

Bright Minds catalogue and Happy Puzzle Company are good for SmartMind and good ideas. Games Crusade is an independent shop in Harrogate who stock an amazing range of games. Found it on holiday once and went back recently. They’re so helpful you could call and ask. They post out too.

Could the original site link have been Maths Gear?

butterflymum · 09/10/2021 10:38

Forgot to link to the products they sell and say someone recommended them on the Christmas board last year:

all products

I think it might have been this website as I spent ages browsing it too last year…

WhyAmIDoingIt · 09/10/2021 17:44

Thank you for all your suggestions.
I like the look of the chocolate fix game for her so far.

She's also a huge fan of maths so will check out maths gear but don't think that was the website from last year I saw.

We have Genius Star, which is the same a Genius Square but harder! It is literally the same game though, just with different shapes, so it might be too similar for you. Ours came from the Happy Puzzle Company, which I see someone else has mentioned too. They have lots of great-looking things and I'm currently trying to decide which will make their way into dd and ds's stockings!

Happy Puzzle company but I see other have already said that

Lovemusic33 · 09/10/2021 21:19

I like rush hour, I think you can buy extras for it to make it harder too.

Thanks for posting that link @coffeechocolatewine, I got a couple of great gifts that I found on tksst last year, but I'd forgotten what it was called.

I went into the Games Crusade shop but the one in Ilkley for a game like genius square for my mum.
The recommended Katamino and had it out to play. It was fab - thinking about getting one for our house as well.
