Hot Wheels

I'm struggling to find anything my 5 year old wants or needs but I'm thinking about getting a Hot Wheels play set. We've got quite a few of the cars already and a generic garage but no tracks etc. Could anyone recommend me a set he might like?

My son is 5 and has quite a few hot wheels sets but his favourite by far is the dragon one.
It’s a dragon on a pole that lights up and roars and you have to launch cars at it to take it down before it reaches the bottom.
It’s great, I know I’m going to get a solid 30 minutes of peace when that comes out Grin

My 5 year old has asked for the ultimate garage. It’s expensive so I’m hoping it will be something he gets a lot of play out of…

Geomags and Magformers and Lego are the big favourites here. He plays with them most days except for Lego which he plays with all the time and even takes to bed with him.

Ds has the criss cross crash set which he loves but it is loud!

I've asked for the Toxic Gorilla Slam and Giant Loop The Loop set for Christmas. I am new to the Hot Wheels game and am, for reference, a 41 year old female. They look bangin'! I cannot wait for Christmas day Grin.

I love this.

Thank you everyone! I think I might have a look at the Lego Super Mario set too as another present. I'm finding Christmas difficult this year as he has everything he could possibly need and I'll be on nil pay because of maternity leave so it all just feels ridiculously wasteful. But at the same time he is 5 and he is going to be so excited on Christmas Day.

I find simple things have better play value. I've just got a set from Argos which is a hot wheels storage unit that folds into a ramp that you can release several cars from at once. The reviews for it are really good.

PoshWatchShitShoes · 08/10/2021 21:16

Is the Argos toy sale still on? I picked up a few different HW sets on offer last week. My DC love the HW track boxes. I've given the giant loop a miss though as it's massive and looks like it needs to stay up for a while

user64323 · 08/10/2021 21:16

It's called the roll out raceway.

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 08/10/2021 21:18

My DD had the cross cross set which she loved, the ultimate garage and a loop the loop track. She really enjoyed them.

ColintheCrow · 08/10/2021 21:33

We've got the limited to Smyths box set, it adjusts into 3 different play tracks and the garage that you can rotate the cars around. To be honest the cheaper ramp that is years old and the shooter carry set is much more loved. We've bought magformers and Lego for Christmas this year.

My two boys are obsessed with hot wheels.
They have the ultimate garage, the sky crash tower set and the Criss Cross crash set. They all get played with loads. i got them all second band off facebook and my boys love them. Fave is the criss cross set. Hot wheels car sets were also in the 2 for £15 at argos last week- they maybe still are
Not sure where you live, but theres a Hot Wheels live show in January. Its a monster truck show but looks pretty fab. We are going to the O2

Cross cross crash has had a reasonable amount of play the loop one less so. The simple stunt sets are more popular with mine.

Whichever one you opt for, try your best to buy second hand (EBay, Facebook Market or whatever) because I bought 4 different big sets with tracks before finding one that my son loved enough to keep and play with. Saved myself a fortune!
