Does anyone have any suggestions for an alcoholic drink that is similar to Jack Daniels?

Buffalo trace

Obvious choice but DH drinks Jim Beam or JD.

Monkey shoulder is another one

A slightly different style of whisky is Penderyn Welsh whisky. Unlike most Scotch it is smooth with fudgy and force Labour's so a bit like Jack Daniels in that respect. It's the only whisky style drink I'd drink out of choice.

Oh yes we had Penderyn the other month and it was lovely, not bourbon obviously but very tasty!

Monkey Shoulder is not similar to Jack Daniels, neither is Penderyn. (Assuming it's bourbon whiskey that you are looking for.)

Check out Woodford Reserve, Wild Turkey, Bulleit. They are all good bourbons available in most supermarkets/online. Also Buffalo Trace and Jim Beam as previously mentioned.

Bulleit bourbon comes highly recommended

Second Bulleit bourbon, the one with the orange label. Prefer it to JD

For an alternative gift for a bourbon lover, the Rockwell bar at the Trafalgar hotel on Trafalgar Square (the downstairs one not the roof) is a specialist bourbon bar. It’s awesome.

Squirrelblanket · 07/10/2021 10:46

Yes Bulleit is lovely, we like both the original and the rye variety.

Squirrelblanket · 07/10/2021 10:47

@AtillatheHun Will check that out next time we're in London, my husband is a huge bourbon fan!

George Dickel Rye Whiskey is the only alternative if you specifically want Tennese whiskey. You can’t substitute with Bourbon because the taste of JD / GDR is just so much smoother.

Try Evan Williams Whiskey. It's lovely.
