Anyone ordering this year? I was disappointed last year so I am not ordering so much.

Do you think they will have a problem with getting stock through to honour deliveries?

Only ordered turkey stuffed crown this year! Was really disappointed in the prawn appetisers I mistakenly thought they could be a starter but they were in shot glass sized lol and the Spanish meat platter was a rip off and nothing special!

I’ve ordered our normal Pembrokeshire bronze turkey crown, which is always beautiful. I haven’t got enough freezer room to get one now, but it’s not the end of the world if they can’t deliver and we have to have chicken breasts instead, which are already in the freezer. I think their sides are over rated.

I do usually go for their Black Forest gateau as well, but I prefer the look of the one from Donald Russell this year.

No, they are not even offering it this year in ROI. Normally, while there is a decent selection (big enough for a book), it is significantly less than what's available in the UK (weirdly, produce that is Irish like Bantry Bay seafood, is not available to order in Ireland in a normal year!!). However, this year, due to their ongoing stock and supply issues, they have announced that it will not be available here at all.

I'm sure there will be some available on shelves, but there have been lots of gaps, many going on for quite a few weeks at a time, with a lot of their normal stock. So I am worried about getting all the nice party nibble bits that we use a lot of.

I have ordered

  • beef Wellington
  • sugar baked gammon
  • cauliflower cheese
  • pine cones
  • profiteroles
  • triple chocolate yule log
  • sausage roll garland

Probably over the top and thinking of cancelling the sausage roll and the profiteroles as think they were soggy last year....

Disappointed there isnt a decent trifle.

Stickytreacle · 11/10/2021 10:50

No, we were disappointed with M&S last year, our sausages were briefly and fatty and we all preferred the food from supermarkets, the M&S food looked nice, but was lacking in taste and quality.
I'm just buying things as I see them and will get the freezer stocked in advance. It makes me do more home made stuff too, which makes it all the more Christmases I think.

Stickytreacle · 11/10/2021 10:52

*briefly - briefly
Christmases - Christmases 🤦

Stickytreacle · 11/10/2021 10:53

God even corrected autocorrect is autocorrecting! I'm sure you get my drift.

I’ve pre-ordered about £200 worth of food. All our Christmas Day stuff, Boxing Day stuff and food for when we have in-laws over between Christmas and New Year.
I’ve decided that if it’s fulfilled, it’ll be best case scenario. If I get there on Christmas Eve and the shelves are bare and my order has been cancelled or has loads missing, we’ll just have frozen pizzas or order from the local Indian.
It’ll not be the end of the world. We’ll still have a lovely Christmas.

rookiemere · 11/10/2021 10:56

I was going to order, but the price for a turkey at the size we would need is ridiculous, plus they didn't have everything we needed, so instead DH has ordered a butcher's pack which has everything except veg for £95.

TuftyMarmoset · 11/10/2021 11:25

I’ve ordered beef, nut roast and veggie side selection. I’ve not ordered from them before but was a bit disappointed in Sainsburys’ offering last year so I’m hopeful it will be a bit better!
