yes I do and no it doesn't
I spend too much and I know I shouldn't
I try to stop myself and can't
It almost like I try to compensate for being crap

mumeeee · 06/12/2007 22:33

No. My Dh trusts me not to go over the top with spendin and even if something has come to a bit more than he expected he does not resent me buying it.

michellexmx · 06/12/2007 22:35

Yes... he's an accountant and watches the pennies....so I hide the pounds!!!!

southeastastra · 06/12/2007 22:36

no

it seems like we mums are often responsible for all of the 'social' bill of keeping our communities together, and all the xmas shopping stuff (not to mention planning & wrapping) goes along with this -- one more job we don't get any credit for!

OK, OK, we could avoid the commercialism altogether, but where is the community spirit in that? And I have tried to minimise it and make some gifts (which also takes time, planning, and organisation).

...but I suppose I'd seriously overspend if he didn't keep an eye on me and he does do it for my own good.

oregonianabroad · 06/12/2007 22:38

Am wondering the smae thing about myself Rhino (compensation)

DH is the little voice of reason in my head. I do go a bit over budget buying presents but not seriously but if DH asks I am bang on budget. However, I am not frivolous because I know he will want to know why my credit card bill is making such a huge dent in the bank balance come January/February.

That said I am sensible enough to know the limits and even if he paid no attention at all I doubt I would spend very much more than I do already.

oregonianabroad · 06/12/2007 22:46

I would probably spend more if I knew he weren't keeping tabs, but not much.

but it completely pisses me off to no end that he gets shirty with me when I sort out literally ALL the gifts except my own!!!!!!!!!!

(granted, I do give rather a lot of hints, but that is beside the point)

lord, i am such a control freak.

I do all the gift buying so all DH has to worry about is ordering my pressies.

He may suggest a few items for DS but leaves most of the choice to me. No budget and I dont think he's ever asked how much i've spent.

notnowbernardimstuffingthebird · 07/12/2007 10:19

He has no idea what has been spent because he has sod all to do with the process of present-buying
