Placed an order yesterday (yes I know) and despatch date is 9th with eta 13th-18th even though all in stock. Trouble is pil's are seeing us on 15th ! What are my chances ?

I placed a huge order on Thurs and the offered delivery times/prices encouraged me to sign up for Amazon Prime - £49 for the year and now all future orders, even one cheap tiny item, will come with free next-day delivery (if it's available on that item of course...)

(Guaranteed pre-Christmas delivery on this order would have cost me £53+ so it was worth it for that alone)

Anyway ordered late on Thu, 2 parcels despatched on Fri and due today - the 2nd, via parcelforce, arrived fairly early this morning so I am well pleased with that, but the 1st, via "Home Delivery Network Limited" is yet to appear - was yours with them, Liz?

LIZS · 15/12/2007 17:56

It doesn't show a carrier or any sort of tracking system, unlike the previous one which was Home Delivery and came as stated. Last year I think we got a Sunday delivery so here's hoping it shows up soon.

Just seen mumclaire's story about parcelnet - they massively screwed up an order I had with Tchibo, taking 3 full days to move it from their own depot at Bradford to their own depot at Bolton, with the result that it arrived Too Late.

Tchibo owe me over £360 for it and after 2 weeks I've had no communication from them (and parcelnet offer no contact details on their own website beyond an email pro forma )

ChasingSquirrelsUpTheXmasTree · 15/12/2007 17:57

I ordered a water jug that someone posted a free code for earlier in the week (Tue?). It came today.

WendyWeber · 15/12/2007 18:05

Oh, I bet they will be doing Sunday deliveries in the run-up to Christmas!

But if you got the despatch email there should be some info on amazon's tracking page? Not just "not yet dispatched"?

My HomeDelivery one is showing as

Dec 15, 2007 10:03:01 AM PRIME SORT UK Arrival Scan
Dec 14, 2007 12:00:00 AM WEB CUSTOMER UK Carrier notified to pick up package

  • nothing after 10.03 today though

The parcelforce one was like this:

Dec 15, 2007 11:19:00 AM Preston Depot Delivered
Dec 15, 2007 07:16:24 AM Preston Depot Out for delivery
Dec 14, 2007 11:43:01 PM Preston Depot Arrival Scan
Dec 14, 2007 07:27:01 PM National Hub Departure Scan

  • in and out in 12 hours, which is much more impressive - WTF are they doing with yours?
LIZS · 15/12/2007 18:07

No orange button to enable me to track order

I have been very impressed with the speed my goods have been delivered to me.
I have ordered quite a few Christmas presents for the boys from them, and each time it has arrived within a couple of days of me placing the order.

WendyWeber · 15/12/2007 18:16

They say on the website to wait 3 days after delivery due date to contact them...there are phone numbers on saynoto0870:

0208 636 9451
0208 636 9200
0800 279 6620

so you could try one of those on Monday if it still hasn't shown up on your tracking page with an orange button?

StampinSu · 16/12/2007 01:04

Hi - I always get my stuff on time or before. Just got another delivery on Thursday, the same day they said they would deliver!

Amazon have always delivered exactly when they said they would - they are totally reliable ime.

Given that they have quoted 13th-18th that means 13th, 14th and 15th - 3 possible delivery days which will be in time. But then we have 16th 17th 18th - 3 days which would be late.

So I reckon your chances are precisely 50%.

mumeeee · 16/12/2007 18:04

I've alawys found Amazon reliable. I ordered something from them on December 8th and it was delivered Tuesday morning.

pantoinghousewife · 16/12/2007 18:06

I always get my stuff from Amazon before the estimated delivery date but, we are not far from their warehouse so I think that is the reason why.

WendyWeber · 18/12/2007 12:08

Liz, did it arrive in the end?

I've just noticed that you don't get the orange button when it's a Royal Mail delivery (cos it's untrackable, obv ) - anyway I've had 4 from Royal Mail so far, all immaculate and on time (unlike the one from Home Delivery Network, which was not only late but battered, as if they were playing football with it at the depot - I have complained)

LIZS · 18/12/2007 13:33

No it hasn't . Have emailed Amazon this morning and they're asking me to check with local Royal Mail office and wait until 20th. We've just had a Play.com order take a week from despatch so it could be held up I suppose. They're now selling them (marginally) cheaper too.

merrylissiemas · 20/12/2007 19:31

i ordered from amazon on the 16th and picked 1st class delivery, it arrived today. sorry this is happening. can you call them and insist on another?

LIZS · 21/12/2007 12:14

Had a different postman today so he couldn't help. No response to my last email to Amazon , want to know if they'll refund me now, before I go and try to track another down .

OP posts:
clumsymum · 21/12/2007 12:17

Well I placed an order on the 12th, and couldn't work out why it still hadn't been despatched on the 18th, and got all dubious about whether it would get here in time. But they despatched on 19th, and it arrived yesterday morning.

RainbowMeg · 21/12/2007 12:37

Ordered a Wii Last Sat from Amazon. Expected delivery on 24th so have been praying it would arrive by Christmas.. Arrived yesterday (20th) Amazon are usually really good - This time, I think they were exceptional!!! Hope all your orders come in time!!

LIZS · 22/12/2007 10:23

They've declared first one lost and sent another by Special Delivery - due 24th eek !!

OP posts:
LIZS · 22/12/2007 10:36

OP posts:
LIZS · 26/12/2007 09:54

OP posts:
boHOHOhemianbint · 26/12/2007 09:59

Mine was taking a long time to turn up so I phoned after nearly 2 weeks. Bloke apologised, gave the order a kick up the arse and refunded my postage costs.

Can't fault their customer service.

OhLITTLEFISHofBethlehem · 26/12/2007 10:01

I didn't get any Christmas presents yesterday because Amazon didn't make their 18th Dec "guaranteed" delivery slot.

DH will be ringing them today.

LIZS · 27/12/2007 13:34

Well the Special Express Delivery turned up and I refused it as directed . Postman reckoned that Amazon have not been entirely honest in run up to Christmas with customers as to when they actually despatched packages and let RM take the flack over late deliveries instead. They had a whole spate of Specials sent out last weekend for next day delivery (mine was undated).
