If you’re posting anything specifically for Reastie please do @reastie or She may not spot it. It’s helpful if when sharing bargain info you bold it to make it easy for people to differentiate between chat and bargain links.

To follow the thread without using up a post to mark place you can click on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first post.

I'm rubbish at short links hopefully someone can help?

@psuedocream3 yes all the podcasts are child friendly and the radio is a specific channel called yoto radio, which has fun pop type songs and some Disney. There is a different night time radio which I assume is calmer (although we haven't listened as they are always on stories by then) and you can set which time your box does that instead of the daytime one.
You can control what they have access to by choosing what the 2 buttons do and just giving them cards for the things you are happy for them to listen to, so there is no downside really

Kollamoolitumarellipawkyrollo · 29/09/2021 21:32

For crystals etc, I’ve bought from here a few times and found him really easy to contact. www.jurassicjacks.co.uk/product-category/crystals/

The fossilised dinosaur poo has been great for stockings!

@thaegumathteth

Thank you, another place to look - I'm all about the Snoopy gear!!

NigelSlatersXmasTaters · 29/09/2021 21:39

All this talk of crystals and fossils has made me realise DS would love them.

Can anyone recommend me a metal detector please? It's for a 10 year old so a decent one but obviously bargain prices help Grin

And anything else fossilly welcome!

Allthingspeaches · 29/09/2021 21:41

@TheGriffle

Would a Yoto be any good for an 8 year old does anyone know? I want something she can listen to audio books/music at bedtime and was leaning towards an Alexa but wondering if she’d like this instead.
Well we love the Yoto in our house. My son is only 3 so different age group but there are loads of books appropriate for 8+, plus the radio stations and the podcasts.

Have a look at the card store and see if you see things that they would like. They also add new things frequently. HTH

Tiggles · 29/09/2021 23:24

Jurassic Jim does do advent calendars. Because he is really a little shop on the Isle of Wight he has a strange way of working on fb. He puts up a piece of stock people who want one say me please and he adds it to their pipe of stuff to post. Last year around the beginning of November he put up his hand made advent calendars. They were about £20 little envelopes with fossils or crystals in. But they will be excellent value for money. We went into his shop one year and he practically gave us stuff to take away as the boys were so interested in dinosaurs. His motto was let them touch anything they want to, if it's really valuable it won't be in their reach.

Feelingpoorlysick · 29/09/2021 23:24

I have codes for £5 off £25, £10 off £50 and a £15 off £75 FOR matalan that I don't need. Valid until the 6th October.

If anyone would like one, let me know 😊

My 8 year old abandoned her Alexa in favour of her younger siblings Yoto, so I'd say yes. She likes the Famous Five, Roald Dahl, Wimpy Kid and Ladybird Adventures cards, also uses the joke cards, meditations and fire card for playing. Plus she usually choses to fall asleep to the sounds of the forest card, but in particular really loves the daily podcast (listens to it when getting dressed in the morning-stops her falling back to sleep!) she loves the Friday podcast the most as its kids telling jokes which you can send in recordings of, and there are some great podcasts you can play directly though the app to the Yoto which she listens to often like science and news ones for children. Whereas with Alexa she only uses it to play a pop song she has heard in the playground or ask her to play fart noises Hmm. Feel free to use my referral code: prz.io/y1qJ448Tp

Apologies I can't remember who linked the magic maths orchard game for £5 on boots but it's also dropped to that price on Amazon if that helps people with prime/avoiding boots delivery charge x

Dogmatix34 · 30/09/2021 07:04

Thanks for the Jurassic Jim info. Sounds like a fantastic shop!

YesIcan3 · 30/09/2021 07:05
