Xbox/Nintendo Switch etc

Hi all

My son (aged 7) is now asking for a games console. He already has an iPad which is mainly used for Minecraft and Roblox.

If we were to get him a console, where would you start? He has two sisters (aged 9 and 4) who will probably want to play with him, so any game recommendations that are good for all the family would be fab too.

I'm not too bothered about the latest model, just one that's going to last a little while at least before it becomes redundant.

For a 7 year old, I'd recommend a Switch. They can play on a tv with the cordless controllers or use it on the go as a handheld. Great selection of family games (Mario Kart, Super Mario Party, etc...). It's also really easy to set up the parental controls and you can control these from your phone.

We have a switch and an xbox here and my 8yo uses the switch the most.

Its super handy as he can pop it in to work on his tv, or else use it without the tv anywhere in the house. With the xbox hes restricted to one spot.

I love playing Super Mario party with him - its a good game for the whole family.
