I got brilliant suggestions from MN last year on books for DS and am back for more suggestions

This year hes been loving the DogMan and storey treehouse series, and Tom Gates is a big favourite too.

Diary of a wimpy kid series
Biggles series (although very hard to find)
How to Train my dragon series
Warrior Cats series
Wizards of Once series - same author as the dragon books
Any horrible history book
Books by Katherine Rundell - the good thieves, rooftoppers, the explorer

Does he like non-fiction?
Guinness Book of Records
Ripley's believe it or not.
Football school books

Sounds like similar taste to my son. Have a look at the Danger is Everywhere books. They're funny, lots of cartoon bits. And there's a Jo Nesbo one called Dr Foster's Fart Powder or something that he loved. The Mr Gum books were a fair success although didn't hold his interest for as long. He still loves Pamela Butchart and he just read Stop Those Monsters by Stephen Cole and that was a big hit.

Mine loves the david badiel books, matt milllz by harry hill and the percy jackson ones.

Can't believe I didn't mention I heartily agree with @logoplanter about Wimpy kid. He's read them all so many times and he loves them. And the Rowley Jefferson spin off ones.

At that age I loved these books which were actually games - you used dice paper and pen to solve the story - I know they have computer games now but one of my DD's really enjoyed my old copies.

Also classics like cs lewis, Tolkien etc I had and introduced to my DD's at that age, they also had terry pratchett

All the above (especially Wimpy Kid) and Big Nate, Rory Branagan, and comic books from the Phoenix comics people.

There's a new Tom Gates book out this month.

Another vote for Wimpy Kid.

My 9 year old loves Dog Man and his new favourite is Bunny vs Monkey from the Phoenix comic.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Last year I got him the first in a series from a few different authours and it gave me a chance to see which ones he actually enjoyed before committing to buying a full series, so I will do that again with these suggestions
