Hi All,

Any recommendations for a lovely festive Christmas dinner set? Needs to be quite large as will have 8 adults. On a fairly tight budget but would love to get a set I could keep for every year 😊

How festive is festive?

ECookshop sells a 12 piece Spode Christmas Tree set for £99 - 4 each of dinner plates, side plates and mugs. They do bowls for £8-9 so an eight person set would be £270ish.

Dunelm have a 12 piece set with a gold band - 4 each of dinner plate, side plate and bowl so an 8 person set is just over £150.

I have a (different) set in gold and white. I can use them all year round for celebration events although I do have some Spode Christmas Tree serving dishes.

TK Max have some gorgeous Spode sets. You can buy individually as well

I've collected Spode for years and adore it.

My aunt used to send us some money and one year she sent a cheque but told me she wanted me to buy something for myself. A German friend used to invite us for a walk and then afternoon tea with a beautiful German teaset.
So I looked around and decided I would buy a Christmas set with some of the money. I bought Portmeirion’s Holly and Ivy just the 6 mugs and plates the first year and added the tea pot then the small milk jug and sugar bowl, a heart serving plate and on it went. I sent my aunt a leaflet and said how thrilled I was with it. Every year I bought another piece or pieces I have quite a set now. I get the tea set out in December and have it when friends visit and then on Christmas Day we have it all on the table. I keep it out until January then it is all wrapped in bubble wrap and put into two large Really Useful Boxes until December. I love getting it out. It is so heavy though it stays under my bed😂

I often pick up the next piece in the sales just before Christmas. Enjoy choosing your set and be aware you might continue. My aunt died 23 years ago but I think she would like that I am still cherishing it and adding to it.
Happy hunting.

I’ve got the Portmeirion one. I buy bits on TKMaxx or from eBay as I can’t afford full
Price! There is only me and DD tho, so I don’t need much.
