Pork scratchings
Favourite crisps or sweets
Socks
Smellies
Mini bottle of a spirit or coffee sachet
£10 voucher to costa etc

pictish · 17/09/2021 21:16

Don’t get into it. It’s just another task at a busy time. Tell your wee one that Santa only fills stocking for children. That way you won’t need to waste money on unwanted tat for an adult stocking.

TinselTime21 · 17/09/2021 21:18

Sorry was meant to say. I want it to be stuff he uses.
He don't go to coffee shops or drink.
So thinking food. Maybe a mug for work?
Deodrant.

Socks, shower gel, face moisturiser, coffee pods if you have a machine, large bag of decent crisps to bulk it out. It'll be easy if it's just for appearances for your dd. How cute that she thinks Santa will bring you both stuff too. Will you fill your own or will Dh be trying to think of ideas for you?

pictish · 17/09/2021 21:24

Does he need a mug? Doesn’t he buy his own deodorant?

I’m being negative I know and I apologise for that. I’m just a harassed mum who makes everything nice for everyone and gets tired. Unless your dh is filling a thoughtful, practical stocking for you too, don’t bother.

Keep the list short. My advice.

Actually agree with this.

Don't start stuff you don't want to finish.

Beard oil, chap stick, a wallet ninja (there are non branded ones on Amazon for under £5), face masks/moisturising socks, a small framed photo of the three of you, Bottle of San Miguel & glass from B&M for £4, Pringles Christmas cracker tube, socks, boxers, gloves, woolly hat, scarf, a book, plant seeds, a bottle of craft beer or cider, pork scratchings, a magazine if he has any hobbies, sweets from his childhood, coasters. On Etsy, there is a seller who’ll put 20ish songs onto cds for you for £6; a bit retro but you could do him a playlist from his teens/early twenties. You could also get your little girl involved in making him some vouchers (tell her Father Christmas asked for her help in drawing pictures) for things like putting his slippers on the radiator before he gets home from work or running him a bubble bath etc.

Also, tell your dd that she needs to remind daddy about Father Christmas’ expectations surrounding stockings for everyone!

fantastaballs · 17/09/2021 21:57

Last year for my OH I got my hands on some novelty socks on Amazon and eBay. Some Beatles socks that are super brightly coloured and some artist socks like the Mona Lisa , the scream etc. I also bought a folding multi tool pliers/saw screwed driver thing that was shaped like a shark. A box of fancy album decorated plectrums, a pop master quiz book, a U.K. flora and fauna pocket guide and a man's manicure set. Oh and a while box of his favourite lollipops and a new mug with some different tea samples.

Smartiepants79 · 17/09/2021 22:01

I agree that your DH is now on stocking duty for you also.
I actually enjoy and adult stocking. We’ve always had them in my family.
I just put in any small things I’d normally buy.
Socks, undies, toiletries, food and drink.
Book? Voucher for somewhere?

I agree with pp - don't start this unless it is a tradition you are sure you want to carry on. Who is going to do you a stocking?

Small presents my dp has got are: fire striker, beard oil, bacon scented lip balm, small bottle of whisky (like a mini bar size bottle), guitar picks and a wallet ninja.

Cherryrainbow · 17/09/2021 22:54

Do you have a stove or open fire these are great www.cantocandle.com/product/kindle-cones/

littleburn · 17/09/2021 23:09

Fishnets?

TinselTime21 · 18/09/2021 09:04

Thanks for ideas.

Were both pretty plain simple people. He will do mine. But again will be socks, choc, deodorants, bath creme etc.

Neither use moisturiser etc. Both happy with bog standard radox etc so think ill stick to that kind of thing.
Yes his work mug got broke so definitely one of them.
Doesnt wear shirts ties etc, jewellery or have a beard.

Tools.. He has Mac or Snap on so not exactly stocking price range.

Pens great idea. He may stop bloody taking mine to work haha

I do a stocking for DH and he does one for me. I tend to get him the following most years

Socks
Christmas pants
Chocolate
Bubble Bath
Shower gel
Bath Puff
Deodorant
Aftershave
A new razor
A whisky miniature
A book

I've also bought things like glasses cases, grooming kits, multi tool, water bottle, enamel mug, whisky stones, plectrums, cufflinks, a belt...

It's just a bit of fun - we don't go bananas with presents to each other, although occasionally one of us will totally blow the £50 budget.

IamChipmunk · 19/09/2021 07:17

To make things easier when we had the kids me and dh stopped buying each other stuff and went to doing a stocking instead.
I normally get him socks, toiletries (we have smallish stockings so i usually take bigger things out of the packaging)
Travel toiletries, drinks miniatures.
He likes specific things so i usually do spiced rum or whisky from masters of malt 'drinks by the dram' selection.
Food bits, nice chocs, pork scratchings.

This year i have got a soap with face on one side and bum on the other that I found in b&m! Dcs are 5 and 7 and will find it hilarious Grin

PurBal · 19/09/2021 07:20

Shower gel. Deodorant. Underwear. Socks. Bottle of beer/cider something else. Book.

PurBal · 19/09/2021 07:20

Chocolate orange!!

winewolfhowls · 19/09/2021 08:01

Me and my mum still do each other stockings and she's in her seventies! We buy better than you would buy yourself versions of things, eg a cath kidston mug rather than a ikea plain one, looccitane shower gel instead of asda. It doesn't have to be plastic junk

KeepCalmAndLoveAutumn · 19/09/2021 09:23

BitsAndBaubles

Thanks for that link. I've just bought those firefighters and used FIRST10 to get 10% off.
You Star

YorkieTheRabbit · 19/09/2021 10:23

This year I’ve bought
Jelly Belly beans
Laptop cleaning kit
Silicone cable ties
L’occitane lavender soap
Thermal socks
He likes practical stuff. I’ll be getting some Taylor’s of Bond Street shaving cream plus other bits for his stocking.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 19/09/2021 10:38

Since he never thinks to buy them for himself, there are usually new socks and pants in dh’s.

And always some big bags of nuts - he’s a nut addict. Though having said that, I still haven’t found the mega bag I found around last November and hid somewhere. He swears blind he hasn’t found and scoffed the lot.

Some special nutty chocolate, too.

Angelmonkey · 20/09/2021 10:39
