Gift ideas for 8yo who likes all things soft and snuggly!

My 8yo DS loves things that are extremely soft and snuggly/cuddly. He was over the moon with a very soft dressing gown I found in Tesco. Has a squishmallow. Has an oversized soft fleecy hoodie. Steals my large fleece blanket regularly so could get him his own one. I found a kids body pillow so might buy that.

Does anyone have any other ideas? Loves cuddling soft toys at night.

What about an oodie? They are quite pricey but look sooo soft and comfy!

BoPeepCantFindHerFucks · 13/09/2021 01:41

A soft fabric sleeping bag
A snuggly onesie
A plush handmuff (my Ds has an octopus one)

Talipesmum · 13/09/2021 01:44

The large jellycat octopus - storm or Odell. Really snuggly and soft.

Silkiescatz · 13/09/2021 01:55

That's exactly like my DS. He loves fleece blankets, fluffy cushions, soft toys - the bigger the better, fluffy rug, fleece clothes and giant beanbags.

Blondie1984 · 13/09/2021 01:56

Weighted blanket?

Ricekrispie22 · 13/09/2021 05:07

These teddy slippers www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.1010885002.html and if he’s too big for them then these monster ones www.next.co.uk/style/st793348/276329#276329

If your budget will stretch to it, a giant Charlie and Finn or Lounge Pug beanbag.

Snuggle cushion

8yo will probable need the full size one.

Teddy bear blanket, also dunelm

EccentricaGalumbits · 13/09/2021 06:12

Second an Oodie, they are the absolute best thing! We barely took ours off for the whole of winter, so much more practical than a blanket.

overthethamesfromyou · 13/09/2021 06:25

Teddy fleecy duvet cover? Sainsbury's were selling them this weekend. So soft

BikeRunSki · 13/09/2021 06:30

fleece trapper hat

drspouse · 13/09/2021 13:31

Is an Oodie too long for a child of this age? DS is 9 but not very tall.

Shelbot · 13/09/2021 17:15

Thanks so much for all the amazing ideas everyone! I think he's going to have a very warm and snuggly Christmas 😁😘

Large fleece blanket
Oodie or similar
faux fur pillow or shaggy ones
fluffy socks

Froppysue · 13/09/2021 18:00

I got my daughter teddy bear bedding last year from Asda and it was her favourite present!

These cuddle cushions look good too

here

Howmanysleepsnow · 13/09/2021 18:20

Fluffy socks
Fluffy hot water bottle cover

Beakerandbungle · 13/09/2021 18:57

Is it the really silky soft texture he likes ( I appreciate this sounds very strange!)? I only ask as my DS is also like this and he didn’t really like the Oodie. It wasn’t soft enough on the inside ( if that makes sense!!).

Last year he really loved one of the large soft toys from IKEA ( think it was £17). He got a golden retriever but other animals are available Grin. It is very soft but also not too over stuffed so is perfect size, shape and softness for cuddling at night.

thelegohooverer · 13/09/2021 19:21

I know it’s already been mentioned but a teddy fleece weighted blanket can feel like a big hug.

BikeRunSki · 14/09/2021 07:43

Nearer to Christmas, the shops will be full of fleece lined slipper socks.

maxineputyourredshoeson · 14/09/2021 09:28

I get DD2 a fleece blanket every Christmas - it started off when she was 1 or 2 because she loved labels and we found the blankets had the ‘best’ labels. She’s almost 10 now and I asked if she needed another blanket this year her reply was obviously mum! Grin

drspouse · 14/09/2021 12:48

I'm actually thinking I'll get DS a cashmere hat to stop him wearing mine.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 18/09/2021 08:34

My dd loves a cuddly toy (she's nearly 13!) She's asked for squishmallows, cats vs pickles. She has the giant sloths from aldi and they are very soft, she loves them. And the big percy pig from marks and Spencer.

Dunhelm have got lots of soft Teddy fur things.

But her favourite blankets are the ones from primark or one I got in wilko.

WeRTheOnesWeHaveBeenWaitingFor · 18/09/2021 08:39

DD is the same. She loves her faux sheepskin rug from TKMaxx. You need to go in a feel them all as they all gave different textures. I’m going to get her a velour beanbag this year.

GeorgeMichaelBluth · 18/09/2021 09:17

I know you posted this for advice @Shelbot but could you advise where you got him the soft hoodie please? My 4yo needs one but is far too little for an Oodie.

I second looking at Teddy bear at Dunelm for blankets and duvet covers.

Londoncatshed · 18/09/2021 09:34

We bought a Oodie fake from Amazon. A sienna for about £25. It’s great and has washed and tumble dryer really well. Would highly recommend.

Also a fleece throw from Dunelm has been a success and a furry hot water bottle also been well used.

Shelbot · 18/09/2021 22:56

So many great ideas, I'm spoilt for choice now! Thanks all.

@GeorgeMichaelBluth we got DS an oversized Fortnite hoodie and it's very soft www.amazon.co.uk/Fortnite-Oversized-Sweatshirt-Dressing-Comfortable/dp/B082P65WM2/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=Fortnite+hoodie&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1632002135&sr=8-3
