Switch or switch lite

Hi all

I'm considering one of the above for DS (8). The thing is, neither myself or DH are gamers. I'm thinking a lite might be best as we probably don't want games on the only shared TV all the time, and DD (5) wouldn't be at all interested.

Any tips on pros and cons of each please?

You can play the switch as a hand held as well as on the TV. Gives more versatility

Following. I have exactly this debate. We are thinking of a Switch for both 10yo and 8yo dds, tempted by the lite so they aren't fighting over the TV, but not sure if I will regret it.

Its your choice ultimately, if you don't ever want games on the TV then the switch lite is possibly better (plus it comes in a range of colours although saying that you can get skins for the switch too if you wanted a particular colour)

Bear in mind you can't play some games on the Switch lite. Basically anything that requires use of the joycons or multiplayer can't be played on the lite...This is things like;
Ring Fit
Nintendo Boxing (1 &2)
Just Dance Series
Super Mario party (It's doable...but it wouldn't be enjoyable as its designed to be played as a group and wouldn't really work around a tiny screen)
Zelda: breath of the wild....again it's playable but you can really tell its designed for switch and is difficult to play on the lite

I wanted to be able to play multiplayer and I love Just dance so thats what swayed me towards the Switch over the lite

We went for the lite last Christmas and has been the best decision. We do have multiple TVs but our experience with fights over the Xbox made our decision for us.

DS 9- almost 10- absolutely loves it. He plays Mario Kart/ Minecraft/ Luigi's Mansion mainly. He's also allowed Fortnite but limited access and this needs WiFi so can be controlled. He really loves it
It's also a good bit cheaper so you can but a few games too.

It wasn't our original plan, but DS (10) has a spare computer monitor connected to his Switch in his bedroom so doesn't monopolise the tv. We remove the Switch from the bedroom to avoid unauthorised late night gaming sessions.

DD has a Switch Lite but does much less gaming than DS.

We find the Switch much better for multiplayer games. I find the Lite is fine as an additional console for a less interested DC, but if buying just one I would recommend the Switch if budget allows.
