As in the title, I'd like to get DD12 a decent advent calendar this year...

The days of Smiggle, Harry Potter and Lego advent calendars are gone, sadly, so looking for ideas...

Bodyshop

What type of things do they like? There are lots of bath and beauty type calendars but there are also lots of different types out there depending what they are into.

GameSetMatch · 01/09/2021 09:23

How about just a plain old chocolate one but from a fancy shop or a nice brand of chocolate they do some in hotel chocolat, I saw a nice Lindt one last year too.

RandomMess · 01/09/2021 09:29

I get my teens candle ones

Surely your own church is selling charity ones or fundraising with a home produced one? Just ask after the service.
It will guarantee that you get one with an appropriate Christian theme instead of the horrible materialistic commercial ones that don’t even depict the Advent story.

Hardly what the OP asked for Xmas Hmm
AnnaSW1 · 01/09/2021 09:42

Lol @Babdoc are you on the wrong thread?

Jumpingintosummer · 01/09/2021 09:45

I have pre ordered DD a gourmet marshmallows advent calendar plus burner to toast (not on the high street).

Lovemusic33 · 01/09/2021 12:16

The gourmet marshmallow one is the best 😋, I had one 2 years ago but last year we bought hotel chocolate and was disappointed so will be buying the marshmallow ones this year.

oohlalabonbons · 01/09/2021 12:16

Thanks for the suggestions - even @Babdoc ... I understand what you mean even though you come across rather snarky (and not terribly Christian!!)

I think the marshmallow one or the candle one would go down well...don't think I want her to have candles in her room just yet 😱

Oh yes the marshmallow one was a huge hit last year! It was the envy of those who did not get a calendar Confused (me) and those who just had a chocolate one as requested!
I think this year I’ll have to buy 3!

TimetohittheroadJack · 01/09/2021 12:24

Last year I bought my dd 24 small gifts -shampoo, shower gel, make up remover, sweets, pens (all between 50p-£2) , wrapped them up and made an advent 'box'. She absolutely loves it, everything in it was something she'd like, and cost less than many of the bought ones.

Was a right pain in the ass wrapping them up though.

RandomMess · 01/09/2021 12:25

@oohlalabonbons I'm surprised there hasn't already been some secret candles smuggled in...

If she likes baths you click insist they go in the bathroom?

TimetohittheroadJack · 01/09/2021 12:25

Should read dd12, not 24! Not sure how that happened

FrancisCross · 01/09/2021 12:25

Last year my DS (11) had a marshmallow one with the burner - it was a massive hit. A couple of the flavours he wasn’t keen on but I’d bought a bag of pink and white ones just in case so he could still enjoy toasting them.

We haven't got a bath, but feel (fairly 😂) sure she hasn't smuggled them in...yet!!

@oohlalabonbons it's only a matter of time 🤣🤣🤣🤣

4 daughters later and fortunately no fires yet!

Have preordered the marshmallow one with burner...fingers crossed it's a hit!

@TimetohittheroadJack like that idea, if I had the time or energy #lazy 😂

Does anyone have a link to the marshmallow one please?

Those who have had it, did you toast some/any or good enough just to enjoy the marshmallow?

Thankyou! I've been wondering what to do this year with eldest 2 outgrowing smiggle
