We’re big into games! My kids (10,9,6) like Blokus, Ticket to Ride New York version (shorter), monopoly empire, Jenga, Uno, Dobble, Carcasonne

unexpectedthird · 29/08/2021 10:14

At that age mine liked Labyrinth, Bears vs Babies, Dobble, Frustration though it made me want to cry at times, The Enchanted Forest, Junior Bananagrams and Exploding Kittens.

Kingdomino, King of the dice, Dungeon Mayhem, ticket to ride, king of Tokyo are the ones my 6 yr old asks for & everyone else is delighted to play.

Thank you! Mines just started getting into them. I'd much rather play a board game than imaginative play.Wink

We've just bought Herd Mentality, granted our kids are older, but it's such a simple game I'd say any child who could put pen to paper could do it.
Basically one person reads a question card out, and everyone has to guess what the others would write and write it down, eg "best ice cream flavour" Those with the majority get a token, the one who has answered something different gets the pink squishy cow (my youngest loved that so wasn't remotely bothered by not getting a token). It's also great because you can cut it short if you need to by not using all the question cards....always a plus if it's taking longer than you thought!

Mine like uno, trad dominos, Pokémon battle academy, strewwelpeter card game, the London game,

We had telestrations as our round the table after dinner game last year, mine were 10 and 7 and it was ace! Really funny and easy to play and no losers!

Can have up to 8 players and the object of the game is the first player has to draw the item on the card and then pass it round to the second player who has to write down what they think the drawing is then the third player has to draw what the second person wrote and so on, we had some really funny answers and we all enjoyed playing it.

My kids favourites are

  • Carcassone
  • Ticket to Ride Europe
  • Pyramid of Penqueen
  • Labyrinth
  • we also have Junior Catan, which they like
CasparBloomberg · 29/08/2021 23:22

Another vote for Labyrinth, we’ve had it for a few years and and still like to play it, in fact played it with DD12 today. We sometimes also like to play it cooperatively, so not always a competition.
Other faves that come out regularly; Sushi Go, Dobble, UNO, Carcassone, Ticket To Ride, Chess, Game of Life & Catan.

Scout2016 · 30/08/2021 08:32

Labyrinth is great, as is Sleeping Queens although that's a card game.
Is it regular Ticket to Ride you are all playing please, rather than junior?

superstar84 · 30/08/2021 08:34

We have ticket to ride and they love it! We got the junior Europe one

FuzzyPenguin · 30/08/2021 08:36

My DS7 loves
Cluedo jr
Mario Monopoly
Uno and uno flip

freshFortunes · 30/08/2021 08:38

Ticket to ride. We have the adult one but just don't play with the long journey and ignore the tunnel rule.

Fruityb · 30/08/2021 08:39

Ghost castle has been remade if you had that as a kid! It’s a brilliant board game - someone got my son it for his birthday and it’s still tons of fun to play.

Theneverendingcleaningcycle · 30/08/2021 09:47

Awesome. All gone on the wishlist!

My kids absolutely love Junior monopoly and Junior Cluedo.

MeredithMae · 30/08/2021 15:53

Blokus and Exploding Kittens!

yoshiblue · 31/08/2021 09:05

We're really into board games

Forbidden Island
Zombie Kidz
King of Tokyo
Quirkle
Draughts/Chess (You can get a nice wooden set from Smyths for £10)
Rhino Hero
Card games - Monopoly Deal, Uno, Go Sushi
Ticket to Ride - First Journey for that age, we're just moving our son nearly 8 to the full version.

My DS is a massive Monopoly fan and recently bought and loved Monopoly Cheaters. You have to try to cheat and not get caught!

Formaldeheidi · 31/08/2021 09:06

Exploding Kittens

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 31/08/2021 09:44

My 6 plays the full version although we do need to close everyone's ears every so often to make sure she's read her destinations correctly Grin

We have a couple of cooperative games from peaceable Kingdom- which are good to have in the mix, mine also really like junior cluedo as well as labyrinth and Harry potter trivial pursuit.
