Can anyone recommend their ooni to me? Also looking at the site there seems to be an absolute tonne of accessories. What do I need?
Thinking of the gas one. Thanks!

we've got a wood one and we love it. great pizza but also useful for roasting veg and making naan breads in,
it's portable so we take it away camping with us, and have also taken it round to other houses for pizza parties
we've got 2 metal peels and 4 wooden ones, I think and the pizza slicer which is FAB

Thanks @ClosedAuraOpenMind. Did you have to buy a stand for it, or does it sit on an outside table (without damaging it!)? Does it need to be outside?

We've got the one that can be gas or wood, the gas attachment is out of stock and has been for ages so we've only used the wood so far. It does need to be outside, it has its own legs it stands on so you can put it on a table or the floor, it does get quite hot so probably don't put it on a plastic table that might melt! There are loads of review videos on YouTube that might be helpful to check out the pros and cons of different models. We love ours.

We have the ooni 16 which is gas. It was used indoors once with a window wide open but I was a bit nervous. The other times it’s been used outdoors which is how it’s meant to be used.

The pizzas turned out amazing! We got the gloves, the peel and the sizzler cast iron tray and have used it for chicken, pork and prawns.

Can’t use a plastic table or it would melt.

I've had both the wood and the gas. If you don't mind the horrendous black soot and getting absolutely filthy when cleaning it out then go for the wood. I prefer the taste of wood fired pizza but the mess really put me off. Thick black soot everywhere and even occasionally on the food. Easiest way to clean it out was removing the stone and then hosing it out on the grass (not on your brand new patio out out will get destroyed) and using a new toilet brush to get rid of as much build up as possible. The neighbours weren't impressed with the smoke tbh. I swapped to the gas and I much prefer it, more consistent, better temperature control, less mess, less smell and better results.

@fantastaballs thanks! I was swithering between the wood pellets and the gas, but I think you’ve convinced me!

I’d recommend the ooni karu as you can use wood or gas. We love the taste when we use the wood but the gas is really convenient.

ClosedAuraOpenMind · 29/08/2021 14:21

we've not had any problems with soot with ours. and we just sit it on a cheap camping table....

Martinisarebetterdirty · 29/08/2021 16:07

We have the wood one, can’t say that we get a lot of soot either, and no complaints from neighbours (definitely a lot less smoke than a bbq). We put ours on an old bathroom tile on the outside table and have a couple of peels and a cast iron tray. We love it.

frazzledasarock · 29/08/2021 16:14

We’ve got the gas one. We’ve got a peel and the turner for it. Haven’t used the sizzler pan but have one of those too.

Game changer was the laser thermometer it’s helpful to know exactly when it’s hit optimum heat level.

Makes the best pizzas ever, I’d never buy pizzas out now.

SeoultoSeoul · 30/08/2021 15:16

We have the wood one but TBH it's a faff. We have just bought a pizza stone (£20 amazon) to use on the regular £20 Argos BBQ and the results are just fab.

I bought my DH the wood fired one for his 40th and he tells me it’s one of the best things I’ve ever given him.
He uses it on a wooden garden bench without any issues.
I would check out ooni enthusiasts uk Facebook group to work out what will be best for you in terms of gas or wood.
When I bought it I also got digital thermometer, leather protective gloves, two wooden pizza peels, dough proving tray, pizza cutter, recipe book and cover and the sizzler pan. You don’t have to buy all ooni branded stuff though so shop about.
Look out for Lakeland discount vouchers too for purchasing and if you decide to go for it and it’s in stock order it because they are often out of stock.
