Ideas for an 8yo boy

I’m at a loss as to what we could buy for our youngest who also turns 8 just 4 days before Christmas. I think for his birthday he will be getting the Projex arcade shoot em up game and maybe some Roblox figures.

But I have no clue for a Christmas gift. It can’t be a bike, he is happy with the scooter he already has, Lego we have loads of and barely gets touched, we have a Nintendo switch but again it gets used very rarely.

His main interests are playing Roblox and Minecraft and he does enjoy art and craft. I have a 9yo who is going to be getting a vinyl record player which I know he will be ecstatic about. I want something equally as impressive for 8yo. He has special needs as well so struggles with concentration and coordination.

How about a set of DJ decks? Or something creative?

Filterphobia · 23/08/2021 21:48

Thanks for the replies. He does like music, I’m not sure if he could handle DJ decks though. I think my biggest problem is that both DC are boys and really close in age so most things the oldest one has had and passed down which is why I find it more difficult for younger DS. We also have big families who over the years have all insisted on buying gifts so we have accumulated most of those things comedycook already.

Laser quest guns kit

A berg go kart
iPod touch (or decent MP3 player - my ds loves audio books)
Overdrive
Kindle kids paper white (massive hit here with my 2 lads)

Currys have got a Logiblocs children's safe on sale at the moment, it's a little project to build and then he's got his own safe to keep things in. That might be fun?

PennyWus · 24/08/2021 00:15

Or buy him a skate board. Or a pair of climbing shoes from Decathlon and take him for climbing lessons.

Roller blades
Gravitrax
Popcorn machine
Football or air hockey table
Beanbag

lannistunut · 24/08/2021 06:37

8 was the age mine absolutely loved a top-notch marble run. We got a brilliant wooden one with loads of special bits. Gravitrax looks good too, we never had that.

flowerycurtain · 24/08/2021 06:37

I think I'm getting mine a skateboard and then there's a local chap who does lessons so maybe a couple of lessons too

Iseeyoulookingatme · 26/08/2021 09:08

I'm getting my 8 year old:
Heeleys
Harry Potter Lego sets
Switch games.
Exploding kittens game
Books
Minecraft stuff always goes down well.

I know you said he doesn't play with his switch but you can get minecraft and minecraft dungeons for it.

Cherryrainbow · 26/08/2021 13:28

My 8 year old is mostly getting gaming stuff - new games, skins for the ps4 controllers, a Nintendo switch cardboard thing u build up to look like an arcade machine for example.

FoolShapeHeart · 28/08/2021 02:19

Maybe a light tablet for art? Depending on whether it would help develop concentration & coordination or just be a source of frustration!
