I've moved into a new house and am already excited because I think it has the potential to be lovely at Christmas as I now have two things that I've never had before.....a mantle piece and set of stairs with a bannister (easily pleased.) 
The fireplace doesn't work, purely decorative and currently has candles and a houseplant on it but I'm dream of some lovely foliage and the DCs stockings hanging from it. Also something lovely wrapped around the bannister or spindles of the staircase but I don't know what.
Could any of you lovely people please advise or share pictures for inspiration? I may be mad but although I love this house I don't feel like it will feel properly like home until we've had a Christmas here.
