How do you hang your stockings?

Usually I don't, but this year we have a beautiful ornamental fireplace and I'd love to make a fuss.

I found these mantle hooks online, only to discover at checkout that they're in the States and that the final cost would be £120 🥴 a bit out of my budget!

There's not much around online and I'm not sure if that's because it's August, or because there isn't much appetite for nice stocking hooks!

I’ve used command hooks in the past. Nutcracker dolls are always in the shops in the lead up to Christmas, I can’t imagine it would be that difficult to buy a small one and attach a hook to it.
We hang out stockings on the bannister coming down the stairs which makes the hallway look very festive

There are a few in stock from Dibor - all around the £12/£14 mark each

We bought hooks from B&m that are shaped like candy canes :) think it was 2 in a pack for £3 or something like that

I fancy doing this, this year. Looks quite simple. Saw it on Pinterest.

I have the dibor ones, I got them a few years ago and they look so festive - heavy though, we did manage to knock one off and it’s dented the floor.

Landsend usually have some - this seems to be the only one at the moment but they might have some others closer to Xmas - this one isn't too bad for £11 tho. https://www.landsend.co.uk/PewterStockinggHolder/pp/PP20032.html?cgid=15261&dwvarP200322_color=IXT

I have a row of battery operated fairy lights that came with little pegs on, 5 in fact, so each of the children's stocking hang on those. We hang them when the tree goes up on the 1st so they are used as Xmas decor.

I fill them on Xmas Eve and pop them under the tree.

Treezan82 · 23/08/2021 17:39

I tie them to the garland we put on the fireplace. The garland has a hook at each end that we hook onto a tack on either side of the chimney breast.

We use handbag holders with different coloured 'jewels' for each family member. This is just a photo off ebay to give you an idea.

The landsend Christmas stuff didn't come out until October last year but they are really nice holders and only about £20 with names engraved I think.

Their monogrammed stockings are lovely as well.

Before we had a cat I had those heavy metal stocking hangers on top of the tv cabinet, I won't trust her not to pull them down on top of her head. I'm thinking about hanging them off the bannister in the hall this year.
