Hi there, it’s a grey and drizzly morning here and my mind has drifted to flickering candles and scents of autumn. Can anyone recommend any candles/wax melts which will make my house smell amazing when the days start getting shorter 🍂 Thanks

I know it's unoriginal but I am a true Yankee candle fan. Autumn glow is lovely. Home sweet home is nice.

Oooh! I was thinking of starting a similar thread so I’ll be watching with interest.

If you have money to splurge, DH bought me the Skandinavisk ‘Hygge’ candle last year. It’s a gorgeous smell, but so pricey for the size.

Bath and Body works candles are my absolute favourite ones. They are American and don't have a shop here, but You can get them through ebay or facebook groups.

These are also really nice julietteathome.com/collections/kitchen-larder

@Bluebellberry May I ask if there are any scents in particular that you recommend?

Goingoutinthecar · 16/08/2021 12:24

St Eval Rosemary and Bay

Bluebellberry · 16/08/2021 12:25

@Tobebythesea for Autumn "Leaves" is lovely.
You can't wrong with anything with "pumpkin" in the name (well as long as you like sweet/ baking scents!) They do change formulas quite a bit though or rename every season so it hard to say exactly what will be good this year.
Personally the only one I have never liked was "Marshmallow Fireside". Its very popular with others but not for me at all, so I guess its subjective.
Personally I wouldn't get a single wick one as its only the three wicks that have the strong fragrance

The Naked candle - Wild fig and cassis.

Jericha · 16/08/2021 13:46

Dw candles are really nice and there's usually a variety of scents and sizes of them in tk maxx. They've got lots of autumnal ones in at the moment. They do lots of other brands I'm yet to try too.

Cheaper: Aldi blackberry and bay (Jo malone dupe).

Treat: White Company Autumn is lovely, has a pear undertone.

Splurge: Jo Malone wood sage and sea-salt.

I am another Bath and Bodyworks fan. Would highly recommend them

The Highland soap company does some of the nicest candles Ive ever used. They are soy and burn for ages. Whisky and honey is a gorgeous, warm scent perfect for autumn/winter and a nice change from the usual spicy/pumpkin ones. They are normally 19 pounds for one, but theres a special offer on at the moment for 2 for 35 pounds

FrancisCross · 16/08/2021 18:19

Thanks for all your replies - got some great ideas. Now just have to wait for the nights to pull in and the leaves to fall 😊

I used to love Yankee Candles but the last few I bought ( Sparling Cinnamon, Vanilla Lime and AllIs Bright . They smelled more of wax (like a crayon ) than scent .
I don't like pine or berry smells personally .

Woodwick candles are nice , pretty shaped glass holder , multilayered and the wick burns with a crackle sounds . I bought a tiny one to try , good 'clean' burn

We have cats now so cannot risk candles , for the past couple of years I've used an electric burner and Neales Yard oils ( Cinnamon mixed with Mandarin or Clementine ) need to make sure it doesn't burn dry .

TKMaxx /HomeSense is a good hunting ground for candles but it's hard to distinguish , there are shelves of themXmas Grin
I loved a Pumpkin Spice one , I was this close > < to buying it , but thought "Cats" so put it back

Angel2702 · 18/08/2021 16:51

TKMaxx have their autumn candles in at the moment and they are gorgeous.

Sn0tnose · 20/08/2021 21:58

I love Woodwick candles. They crackle, the scent is strong enough to actually smell without being overpowering and they burn very cleanly.

Their Frasier Fir candle smells like Christmas trees.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 21/08/2021 01:01
