Present for a 5 year old

DD1 will be 5 and a half at Christmas and is still really into playing with the play kitchen, setting up tea parties etc. I think she would love a toy picnic set and have seen this one but am unsure as firstly it says toddler (though is 3+) and secondly are 5.5/6 year old still likely to be playing with these things? I feel like she will still love toys for a long time but then read all the time of children not playing with toys beyond 6/7?

So thoughts. Also suggestions of others sets if you think this one is too young.

I could get it for her 3 year old sister but I know there are things her sister would enjoy more.

My LG will be 5.5 at Christmas and would absolutely love that picnic set (going to have to resist buying it now!). She very much likes dressing up so I've got her an Elsa outfit and boots from Disney. She has older siblings who both like to play with her toys as well. I wouldn't worry about her not playing with them, I usually find if the toys are there, mine play with them.

My DD is that age and still serves us up wooden food, and her toys. The main difference is she writes "menus" now and it's all a bit more complex. I have to wait to be seated and so on. Most recent addition was a wooden birthday cake from Aldi that went down well (gift wise), and they often have wooden food in so maybe keep an eye on them?

My five and a half year old would definitely play with that (and so would her 2 year old brother!).

If looking for wooden food toys I would highly recommend the Melissa and Doug ice cream shop. They have both used it regularly for months.

We have the Ice cream set (got it for her 4th birthday) and most of the other Melissa and doug kitchen sets. I guess it being called a toddler set has made me question myself

DD6 would still play with her kitchen and set up Teddy bear picnics but as a PP mentioned there are menus, prices, name tags and she will add the prices together so it's a fun thing to do but she's taking it a step further with new things she has learned.
A little chalk board for menu designing might also be an idea along with it

We have that set and both my girls (4.5 and almost 2) still adore it. Lots of parts too it and endless play options. Good quality toy.

My little girl is 6 soon and I'm getting her the wooden veggie patch from that set as she is really into a farming game and will love it :)

If you've also got a 3 yo definitely go for it, it'll get used by both. You can use it to talk about half, quarter, thirds etc.

Have you got a tea set? Tea cups and saucers, milk jugs and teapots have always been popular with my DC.
