I want to get a wooden train set for £20 or so for my son, aged 2. Nothing fancy - just nice and simple. Was going to get the electric one from Tchibo but they have just sold out -Aaaggghhh! Any ideas where I can find one?

Tesco have some, 56 piece or something.

colditz · 27/11/2007 14:49

Oh, have just looked and it appears they on't don't do them any more!

purpleflower · 27/11/2007 14:51

I saw some in tescos a couple of days ago for £10. I'm going to get one for DS.

Flibbertyjibbet · 27/11/2007 14:51

Hang on I will look on ebay for the fab one we got ds for £30 inc delivery. Not £20 I know but much better value than the tesco one.

purpleflower · 27/11/2007 14:52

Oops just saw colditz post, my local tescos had quite a few on the shelf.

Flibbertyjibbet · 27/11/2007 14:58

here

is the same one that I got on a buy it now for £20.

Visit his shop he has tons. If you dont' get any from bidding I would email and ask for a buy it now.

Its interchangeable with Brio, the tescos one and also one that I've got bits for from Woollies.
Some people dont' like this one because the track parts have pegs instead of being all one piece, but ours is in constant use with 2 terrors and no pegs have come out.

Ikea do a cheap one for about £10

Tigerlion · 28/11/2007 15:29

Thanks Flibbertyjibbet - great tip. I did not win the 100 piece one but won the 89 piece one which looks just as good. Can't wait to see it.

Asda do one too, in their 'home ' store

Marne · 28/11/2007 15:34

Toys r us do one for £9.99 or £19.99 (we have bought one for dd2), tesco's also have them.

Boovs · 28/11/2007 15:37

Ikea - we got one for DS and and he's played with it loads - in fact we got 2 so he could build a really big track and it was really cheap - im sure they still do them.

ConnorTraceptive · 28/11/2007 15:44

Got one from toys t us last year for £20, it was actually quite big and is compatible with the tesco stuff if you want to get some cheap extras later on

laura032004 · 28/11/2007 22:16

Our Somerfield had some in last week.

BirdyArms · 28/11/2007 22:25

We have approx £9.99 one from toys-r-us and it's great - just a figue of eight but perfect for a 2 year old. DS1 is 2.9 and can put it together himself but still doesn't need anything much more complex - have bought him a Thomas to go on it for Christmas which has cost as much as the whole track, trains, building etc originally!

Honneybunny · 29/11/2007 07:28

Another vote for the eBay trainset here (sjscycles, the one that Flibbertyjibbet linked to)! We got it last year for ds1 (now almost 4)'s birthday, also for £20 buy it now. He loved it, and still does. We have bought on the odd bits and bobs, it's compatible with brio and all brio-like.

JingJanglingBexieHoHoHo · 29/11/2007 22:47

Ikea had some for less than a tenner.

lissielewzealand · 29/11/2007 22:48

instore had a train set and table for £20!

LIZS · 01/12/2007 18:31
