I’ve only just come across them today when opening the Smyths website. Anybody here have them? Are they any good? I’m thinking of getting my 4yo one for Christmas.

I like them because my youngest would have me reading 10 books a night. I've also recorded myself reading a book. They are a bit short though so I let mine swap them over as opposed to putting it out of reach.

AliceMcK · 25/07/2021 23:31

Thanks @imamule they do look pretty good, I think she will definitely like it x

Worth looking and comparing with the Yoto too, we went for the Yoto in the end as the cards seemed cheaper than the little figures. Would recommend it, it’s great!

JW13 · 25/07/2021 23:58

Our DS got one for Xmas last year (he's now 3.5) and he loves it. Listens to a story/songs every night when he's going to sleep. Pricey but would definitely recommend!

Starjammer · 26/07/2021 00:01

We decided on a Yoto as it seemed to have a bigger age range and longevity and was a bit more versatile, plus the cards were a lot cheaper. DD is only 2.5 but she loves hers!

Starjammer · 26/07/2021 00:03

Oh and the Yoto Radio channel is surprisingly good. I've been known to listen to it when DD is at nursery Blush

We have one for my 13 month old daughter. We just have different ones with music on at the moment but she puts the music on and swaps them over. It’s often the first thing she does in the morning. Some of them are preloaded and some are the creative ones we’ve put specific nursery rhymes and songs on. We bought it with the intention of her dad readying stories for when he works away.

My daughter has a Tonie, bought it a couple of years ago and she absolutely loves it! It's a nice way for her to chill out and wind down when it's her time. Really recommend it

We went for Yoto instead as, as PP have said, great card range, cards easier to store and transport than figures, plus it has good radio, podcast and night light functions. We love ours. I have a discount code if you want to DM me :)

We have a tonie, bloody love it! DS1 got it for Christmas when he was 3.5. He uses it every night. Also has the added bonus of the figures being good presents, so not bulky or take up a lot of precious space.

He is able to use it himself.

Changechangychange · 26/07/2021 11:28

Ridiculously expensive for what they are (you can’t easily download stuff to the blank ones unless you record it yourself).

But DS loves them and we have millions of them. We’re also a bilingual family, and they are great for foreign language stories (you can get the foreign language ones on Amazon).

We’d like more figures in a series - we’ve listened to Fireman Sam, Bob the Builder and Paw Patrol until he knows every word by heart. It would be nice to have some new episodes.

I think Toonies are good for younger ones due to being soft and the cute characters but Yoto is definitely worth a look at for your little boys age and beyond due to bigger library for older children and the podcasts, alarm clock etc. And you can buy a protective case for it . As pp mentioned there are referral codes if you do go that way. We've put a Yoto away for Christmas for our 5yr old GD as we feel she will not outgrow it and there was such a big choice of next stage content. Our friends 3yr old loves his Tonie but does get frustrated if he tries to carry it around as the characters slide of and so the content stops playing. Have a Google Toonies vs Yoto and loads of comparisons between the two will pop up.

Thank you, the yoto definitely looks a better option. The discount code would be great if you are happy to do that @PetticoatSoldier Thank you again x
