I'm just writing my lists, and scrolling threads here for ideas. Mine will be for a very nearly 12yo, and a nearly 15yo.

So far I have (in no particular order)

  • lip balm
  • £1 coin
  • £ 2 coin
  • novelty pen/s
  • chewing gum
  • hand sanitiser on a clip thingy
  • mini shower gel nicer than I usually buy
  • giant chocolate coin
  • charger wires
  • rechargeable batteries
  • xmas pudding chocolate balls (Home Bargains, 79p a net. They have popping candy in them & were a hit last year)
  • spending money for our Christmas Eve walk to the market. Probably a fiver or tenner.
  • some days are just chocolate coins

Any other ideas? What will you put in your dc's Advent calendar?

My children will be 15 and 12 by Christmas, so similar in age to the OP's.

@ShaunaTheSheep

I have a white twig tree (from Hobbycraft) that I hang little houses from.
This looks amazing! Where did you get the little houses from please? X
ShaunaTheSheep · 25/07/2021 21:03

@Fleanne I think it was a supermarket, probably Sainsbury's, but it was a while ago. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Heaven-Sends-Tradtitional-Wooden-Christmas-Advent-Calendar-Nativity-Gingerbread-/402558622751?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0

Similar on eBay.

Always a chocolate each, either coin or a mini Xmas choc Santa etc. Every few days so on a weekend or if no school I change it for a bigger Xmas choc / choc lolly. They only want chocolate!

And then random notes for Xmas activities /days out etc.

Don't do much as do a 1st Dec box with pjs, Xmas earrings, Xmas boxers, Xmas socks and a top or something they can wear to school before the holidays.

FoolShapeHeart · 26/07/2021 23:01

We have a mix of little gifts & activities - trips to see lights, baking & crafts, couple of (inexpensive) festive days out, choosing & delivering a reverse advent, decorating the house etc. Gifts include Christmas books, new decoration, bath bombs, new festive jumper/tee etc. I'm trying to extend the festive fun & make it not just about 'getting stuff' so it's mainly linked smaller gifts to use for activities.

I usually do activities, simple stuff through the week like hot cocoa, writing and delivering Xmas cards or Xmas movie night. Then all going well we’ll have panto and Santa visits in there too along with Xmas crafts that I get from b&m

I'd love some ideas for teenage boys. I find dd very easy to buy bits for.

DS who will be 14 much less so.

Poppins17 · 09/08/2021 06:46

I went into paperchase yesterday and they had some pin badges in the sale for a couple of quid that I think I’d have liked at your DC age.
