not?
I saw then mentioned on lots of threads last xmas but I am too hot and bothered to look these right for now.

Do you have one? Are they just a gimmick? How are they better than HC made in a pan? Dd 13 mentioned that she might like one but will this be a waste of money like the cake pop machine we got her. ?

We've got a lavazza milk frother which you can also add Chico's too.

RubaiyatOfAnyone · 30/07/2021 16:10

Does anyone have any recommendations for grated-chocolate type posh hot chocolates to use with this sort of milk frother?
My DPs already have a nespresso milk frother so i can't get them a velvetiser, but i think they'd like the posh hot chocolate aspect.

islamann · 30/07/2021 16:31

Love mine. Had it as a surprise 50th birthday present from DH and admit to being a bit Hmmm but it's a game changer.
I'm even packing it to take on our caravan holiday next week!

I bought the Aldi dupe of the velvetiser last Christmas, was around £40, so half the price of the HC one. Makes great hot chocolate, but this means the kids ask for it all the time!

Marimba , they do lovely hot chocolate flakes , milk , dark white and ruby , they do small packs but I usually get 2 or 3 of the kilo packs as they keep well and it saves on postage ( and out of hot choc season they are amazing on ice cream as a topping Wink )

@RubaiyatOfAnyone sorry didn't add you , see above

Movingonupnowww · 12/08/2021 12:44

Extremely dull but how much chocolate would you use? Trying to work out the average calories to see if it's something we would use often or a special treat only dealy.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 12/08/2021 17:59

I would strongly recommend the bialetti milk frother . It's stove-top, with a plunger, and dishwasher proof. Also, less than £30!

Movingonupnowww · 21/08/2021 17:19

It's 35g of choc, about 300 odd cals. Not sure if it's worth it as would have to be a once a week treat. Does anyone else only use as a treat, is it worth the money? I'd like to use every but but would have to cut out a meal Grin

I bought a really gorgeous metal milk jug ( able to go on the induction hob) from TKMaxx/HomeSense .
No plumger though , but I;ve got a whisk

I didn't need it .
I could've lived quite happily without it .
But yknow what TKMaxx is like , if I went back the next day it would've been gone .

NotTheMrMenAgain · 22/08/2021 14:47

I received a velvetiser as an unexpected gift the Christmas before last - it's a nice idea I suppose but it's hardly been used. Even DC, who likes hot chocolate, hasn't bothered much. It's a novelty thing really.

AnneKipankitoo · 22/08/2021 14:53

There is a thread at the start where you can volunteer to try it . You might not get chosen .

Rainbowshit · 23/08/2021 11:54

@70isaLimitNotaTarget

The fact it can't go in the dishwasher makes it a "No" for me but I covet one madly.

I bought some HC chocolate flakes and a rechargeable whisk . I use Alpro , makes it frothy and sweet in a pan.
Still covet the Velvetiser ......

Look on QVC Friday at 8pm they have a HC show and will likely have the Velvetiser

It is really easy to clean. It pretty much does it itself. Just put in some water and a squirt of washing liquid and let it run.
CarolinaWeeper · 23/08/2021 14:25

We got one just last week after it was posted on the bargain threads for £65 delivered. I have to say I'm really impressed with it. The hot chocolate is very nice but I've used it daily to froth milk for a homemade cappuccino each morning and it's really good....even skimmed milk is lovely and frothy from it.

guffaux · 25/08/2021 21:08

we got a double milk heater/frother which has two jugs, various frother heads, also makes cold milk shakes, smart enough for the counter top, has a function that heats the milk hotter than the velvetiser ( a must for me) it was 39.00 from jean patrique,

I use it daily as I like a hot cocoa (so unsweetened hot chocolate ) every morning for breakfast- also makes lattes/capaccino , easy clean and you can use one pot on its own, but if we both want one, we can have them at the same time.

even with just the heater head you get a little froth that sits on the top of your drink and prevents that nasty skin forming

TheCrow · 26/08/2021 22:38

I asked for the Aldi dupe for Christmas last year and have used it loads. I like not having to stand over a pan of milk making sure it doesn't boil over in a freezing kitchen, with the velvetiser you just chuck everything in an press the button, it's done really quick 🙂 it also makes really good chai latte if you use the chai powder in it!

Blueberry40 · 29/08/2021 06:18

I got one recently and have to admit that it’s been quite a disappointment! Can make a better hot chocolate using the frother we have that cost about a fiver. Don’t understand the velvetiser hype at all!
