Build a castle out of toilet roll tubes and bits of cardboard for Santa to leave pressies in. We did this every year when I was small, so exciting. Stick cotton wool on for snow, sprinkle glitter etc, marvellous!

Could he have a tea party with other kids and parents and then a big movie showing...so bit of both?

Take mince pies round to the neighbours? (you could make in advance or buy, and he could get them to wrap in cellophane or whatever)

Surely, as a male, he will be out shopping for you Christmas present and swearing blind he's left plenty of time.....

tidy house (with children's help! even the littlies can hold a duster!! )

then go to park. lots of playing and running around - tire them out so they go to bed early ready for Santa!

come home, get dc to help with some cooking - and make you a lovely meal which will be on the table ready with a glass of wine for when you get in from a hard day at work!!

perfect!

When I was a kid, my dad used to have xmas eve off. We used to tidy the house, and get the veg done for xmas day. Whilst listening to xmas tapes (Now CD) Then we would go and pick my mum up via all the towns on the way there and back with xmas light ups. It is one of my favourit childhood memories. My dad work really long hours and xmas eve and boxing day where the only times I really got to spend with just my dad.

We ever kept the tradition going when he changed jobs! When I became a teenager we used to go upto London for the day (between xmas and new year) and go round muesums.
