I’m totally in the Christmas spirit right now (it always happens mid June). I’m thinking ahead for December…

I like to give people who buy things for my DD (grandparents, aunts and uncles, family friends etc) a present from her, and have been told that they all like the homemade things.

We have made baubles, salt dough ornaments, tile coasters and handprints in the past, but as she is 7 this year I thought I could perhaps do something a bit more ambitious. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you!

Go on Pinterest and search for Hama head Christmas decorations. There are some lovely snowflake/bauble designs that would look great on a tree.

How about getting her to decorate some tealight holders

During lockdown we sent some friends/relatives these key rings myfrugaladventures.com/2016/03/rainbow-perler-bead-keychain/ There are loads of patters and ideas for other Hama bead key rings online.

In the past, we’ve done:
jam jar lanterns theimaginationtree.com/jam-jar-and-tissue-paper-luminaries/
Chocolate truffles

And pen pots made from old tin cans jazzed up with washi tape and ribbons

Mine loves sewing, you could do some lavender drawer sachets with really simple running stitch.

Mini Christmas cakes baked in tuna tins go down well.

I am loving these ideas. Thank you!

Lavender sachets.
Or decorate some terracotta plant pots and plant them up with spring seeds.
Christmas baubles

Scented candles. You can buy all the stuff you need on Amazon/eBay and you can use things like the glass ramekins you get with Gu puddings or similar to put them in (can paint or otherwise decorate these too).

Also, homemade soap, homemade bath bombs, homemade lip salve etc. All pretty useful and not too hard to make.

Pomander balls are also nice

Some things we have done:

Baked items (peppermint creams, nutella truffles, Christmas pudding, Christmas cake)
Soap (using lavender from the garden)
Polymer clay tree decorations
Embroidered fabric bookmark
Hama bead coasters
Small cross stitch in a frame

Candle making is a good idea that I might steal!

My much loved aunt died last year. Every Christmas she wore the painted macaroni necklace I made her when I was 7 years old... half a century ago Smile

PPCD · 20/06/2021 17:54

@JumpingFrogs what a lovely thing for her to do, that made me smile.

Gingerbread body scrub. Absolutely brilliant!
