Thinking of a white one for dd and silver for ds. Confused by the various permutations and relative value. Where are the best offers atm and what basics do we need ? Console, case, game or two etc

I got Mollie's from Argos for £99.99. Spend another 1p or so on something to make it £100 and you then get £10 voucher off. They have some deals too re games but we didn't find the game we wanted there.

This is the best money i ever spent on a toy for DS, you will be able to get good bundle/deal at GAME.
The staff are really helpful IMO.
What ages are they, i can give a bit of tiny advice on games maybe

My DS is 8, his favourite games are:
Lego Star Wars
Mario Kart
Transformers
Tony Hawk (skateboarding thing)
andy other car/driving ones

They are starting to introduce better games aimed at girls, but your DD might like the typicaly boy ones anyway. In Mario Kart there is a cute girl character called Peach who can beat the rest of them!
My nieces also like Nintendogs, and Super Monkey ball.
And for yourself, dont forget to get braintraining - great fun!

Was just lookign at Sight Training - ds has poor hand/eye coordination so that may help He already has a GB advance so has his eyes onthe new Cars one, was also thinking Harry Potter and Zelda.

Game station are doing them this week for £114.99 which is for the console, any game worth £29.99 or less and an acsessories kit.

MrsBoo · 15/11/2007 17:17

Think he will be able to play the GB games in the DS, just uses the bottom screen in think.

LIZS · 15/11/2007 17:18

ooh thanks nutty that sounds good, so many have games in the bundle which won't appeal. Yes he could play his GBA games but newer ones are proving harder to come by.

DD enjoys Animal Crossing (on a basic level really though) and the mini games on Mario. For Cjristmas se is also getting Brain Academy (she likes this on the Wii so hoping okay on DS), HSM game and also the Disney Princess game.

I got one last week from Argos, picked the new Simpsons game and received an accessory pack, all for £120 plus I got a £10 gify voucher for spending over £100. It was advertised in the new Argos leaflet and there were a few 'new' games to choose from.

Play are my favourite for games. I love the DS which might explain why we've got so many games. Some of the educational games even appeal to young kids. Big Brain Academy has some games that even your youngest could play & it's good for adults as well. Nintendogs is the best pet game by far & we've tried a few naff ones (thanks to friends & relatives). Along with the games others have mentioned, your kids might also like Cooking Mama, Diner Dash & Animal Crossing. There are some good games coming for younger children, like I Did It Mum (which we haven't tried) & Crayola Treasure Adventures (which we have but I don't think is out in the UK yet).

Amazon have consoles for £94.99 or £104.99 with a selected game (at least one of which would be suitable). Does that sound good value ?

Ds1 had one for last xmas- it is the best thing that we have ever brought for him- invaluable on those boring car journeys.

Trouble is- we are having difficulty finding something that will give the same elatedness for this xmas morning ( we had to peel him off the ceiling!)

LIZS · 18/11/2007 12:26

bum silver out of stock

Thinking of getting Cooking Mama for ds1 - he loves cooking in RL - or is it aimed at girls only? (cover looks slightly girly?)
