School Christmas Lunch!!!

DD who is 7 is absolutely adamant that she is not going to have a Christmas lunch at school because she will get ill!

To cut a long story short - when she was in Reception the day they had Christmas Lunch DD came home from sch ill (chest infection and an infection in both ears) was very poorly and sick etc! She blamed it on the sch Christmas lunch. Even though I did try and correct her, she didn't really believe me. Last year she asked if she could have chip day at sch as her BF had chip day, I agreed immediately. Anyway she had the dinner, came home from sch and kept complaining that she felt sick and she was going to get sick because she had had sch dinner etc. I tried to take her mind of it and reassured her. Within an hr of being home she started throwing up (had got a stomach bug!) Of course DD thought it was because of sch dinner. In her eyes 2 sch dinners = 2 lots of sickness!

Now my problem is, I would like to get her over this fear of sch meals, also I would love her to have a sch Christmas dinner, the Staff at the sch make it lovely for them, wait on them and make it all jolly, DD will miss all of this.

Do I tell her to get over it and she will have a Christmas lunch or do I take the stand that life is too short and not worry.

Also it would help me out on other occasions if she did have a cooked lunch at sch from time to time!

Oh what to do!

If she is still talking about being ill, and is linking the two, then I would leave it tbh.

Wait til she is older and has forgotten, realised she is making the wrong connection, or changed schools to a new kitchen!

Yes you are probably right, she is the kind of child who would point blank refuse to Christmas lunch and so not have anything to eat at all, at least the other way she will eat something even though not in the Christmassy spirit!
