I need a big fake snake

You really would not believe how difficult it is to find a big fake snake.

It has to be realistic and it has to be sleeping ie not poised to bite or rearing up with its hood flared.

I don't mind spending about a tenner.

Can I find one? Can I heck.

Toys R Us?

GunpowderTreasonAndSquonk · 01/11/2007 14:48

I am dying to ask why, but I'm not sure I want to know the answer

BroccoliSpears · 01/11/2007 14:50

Arf.

Well... you know that scene in Dusk til Dawn with the lap dancer and the big.... no. Not really. It's a Christmas present for someone. Honest!

Haven't found anything in Toys R Us online. Will call in this weekend though.

Thank you both, Chippy and Sleepy.

I have tried our local Tropical World place, and have looked at all that ebay has to offer. That python would be great if he weren't lunging, and the gift shop didn't have anything suitable.

I'm quite taken with the African Boomslang...

But no! Must be rubber. And in UK

See? Not as easy as you'd think.

Maybe I'll just get him a real one .

scroll down for rubber snake extra jumbo though it has it's mouth open (maybe you could tape it shut!) and it's £14.00 and there's no information about it's size

i'll keep looking

southeastastra · 01/11/2007 15:37

another but with mouth open again

it's hard!

Kitsandbits · 01/11/2007 18:02

Can i ask why its has to be a big reuubery one with its mouth closed??

seriously - why??

Kitsandbits · 01/11/2007 18:03

rubbery - jeez whats up with me today??

BroccoliSpears · 01/11/2007 18:43

Because...

(This is a bit long, but you did ask)

We went to stay with someone in the summer and their big new thing was that they had just had a huge conservatory built, which we spent a lot of time in. The conservatory backs on to a... well, almost like a cliff face (which sounds worse than it is) so the view through a portion of the conservatory is straight onto the craggy vertical rocks. They were wondering whether to uplight the rocks, or to grow something pretty up them, and DP suggested that they uplight them and then have a very subtle but realistic snake (or maybe even a lizard) somewhere, concevably sunbathing or sleeping so that people wouldn't immediately notice it but if they did they would hilariously jump out of their skin and shriek that there was a bloody gurt snake on the wall.

So... I want to send them the snake for Christmas. It's not the best joke in the world, I know, but it would be cool if I could find one.

totallyhatefireworks · 01/11/2007 18:57

BroccoliSpears · 01/11/2007 19:11
