DH is working Xmas day and I was wondering how other people are planning to spend the day if it is just them and the kids.

not in your situation but i would ask santa to deliver early and have proper xmas when dh is there, then just treat xmas as boxing day to relieve the pressure.

DH is not working this year, but has often worked on Christmas Day (always an early shift).

It depends on what hours he has to work I guess, but we do Christmas Dinner on Boxing Day, and have a buffet/finger foods on Christmas Day.

The boys still open their presents on Christmas Day, although they will save some until DH gets home. We have visitors come to us (My dad n stepmum, aunt and uncle, both dependent on if they're local), and my SIL brings my FIL across for an hour or so. None of them stay long, just to see the boys and have a cuppa.

And then we have Christmas Dinner on Boxing Day.

My DH is working a late shift on xmas eve and then the same on xmas day so will be business as usual - I think we're going to try and have some time together present opening in the morning (before DH goes to bed!) then its just DD and me. Luckily he has Boxing Day off so will prob do something with wider family then.
