So I've read the instructions and looked on YouTube.

Can anyone explain very very clearly step by step instructions please. Seriously my kids want to play and I haven't a clue Wink

It's one of those games that you need to read the instructions and just go for it.
Keep the instructions handy but just start and you pick it up as you go!
We have all the expansions and love it!!

Are there inductions in the pack? Very easy game to play and it's great fun!

cabinbythelake20 · 01/01/2021 20:56

Instructions are also on each card. Great game!

We had a couple of test rounds before we got stuck in.
Defuse card is your equivalent of a get out of jail free card. Explosion card means you're out, unless you have a defuse card.

We also bought the DCs this for xmas. DH and I both read the instructions and DH watched the video with the DCs (6 and 4yo). I agree with the PP to just get stuck in and have a go, and you will quickly figure it out. By the end of the second game we had all got it - mostly - 4yo is still struggling to understand that unlike Uno, she doesn't also need to dispose of all her cards as quickly as possible. She'll get there soon though! We haven't introduced the laying doubles/triples of cards other than the Catamelon type yet and will wait for a few more session before trying it.
DCs have really enjoyed playing. It has a good mix of luck and strategy so all have a chance of winning (unlike our attempts at Dobble which were a disaster).

What am I doing so wrong if you all understand it so easily?? It's the swapping of the cards that's confusing me too.

Oh, I struggle with this too 😂😂 it isn't even that complicated really. I wonder if it's just that the rules are perhaps less logical than other games.

What do you mean, swapping the cards? I'll be honest, I only played it once with my dds a couple of days ago but I think we kind of got it by the end!
Like pp says, the instructions are written on the cards you're playing. You need to play one of your cards by putting it down in a separate pile to the upside down ones. You can play more than one card. To move on to the next person, you need to pick a card up (from the upside down pile) and hope it's not an exploding kitten!

No idea if I've just told you bollocks. That's what we did...

I bought it, read the instructions several times....and it's still in its box! I cannot understand written instructions for games at all. Carcassone went the same way.

TrickyD · 02/01/2021 16:50

I bought Fluxx after recommendations on here. Completely baffling!

It took us a few gos's to get into it ... things fell into place when we started using the 2/3 of a kind and 5 card combo. Also DD 12 loves the fact you can "Nope" any player at any time and they can "Nope" you back, it gets daft but fun. These actions mean you start to use your cards up quickly so you're all quite vulnerable unless you've got lots of Defuse cards. If you've not, do 3 of a kind to try and steal them from others. If you're going to play a "See the future ' card try and have a shuffle card handy too in case a kitten is waiting to pop up next!

Am now waiting for another player to post I'm doing it all wrong GrinGrin
