Especially if this is your first year cooking the turkey.
Nothing brings Christmas to a fitting climax quite like finding a plastic bag full of intestines in the middle of your perfectly roasted bird.

Lol didn't think they were included anymore?

SoupDragon · 25/12/2020 11:34

I checked my bird from the butchers and there were none. My dog was most disappointed!

By 11.08 am all the turkeys were in the oven already.

You mean public service, right?!

MargotLovedTom1 · 26/12/2020 01:09

Grin private sector turkeys must be giblet free - who knew?! Grin

grassisjeweled · 26/12/2020 01:23

Yeah I made this mistake. Weird grey bag found in the cooked bird.

grassisjeweled · 26/12/2020 01:24

I took that odd hook thing out ( the neck?) but didn't realise the bag till I was putting the carcass ready for stock

JamesAnderson · 26/12/2020 01:25

I got giblets in the chicken

A good reminder - you should bump it next Christmas!

We had a crown this year and I did forget to check, but fortunately there were none. But the first time I ever cooked a chicken for the man who was to be DH, imagine my surprise to find the warm plastic sleeve of Horror inside the cavity when I was about to get it carved... I stealthily slid it out and binned it on the sly. No idea whether he noticed or not!

Bump!

Bump again. Interestingly they seem to have changed the algorithm to make zombie threads less visible, which is normally a good thing, but not in this very specific case.
