Morning all and a very happy Christmas!

On the back of the Christ bargains thread, can we have a thread to report back on how the bargains were received?! The good, the bad and the ugly (poopsy unicorn I'm looking at you here!!)
Nothing opened in this house yet, everyone's still in bed!

A big thank you to everyone on the bargains thread, it's always such a friendly thread :)

Huge success here with the bargains (and random stuff that I wouldn’t even have thought of). Thanks all for the ideas and atmosphere.

Highlights have been the Aldi Squishmallows, qwertee T-shirt’s, “toys for a pound” stocking fillers, Lego from Amazon Black Friday deals, books and board games from the Amazon “kids wish list” discount, Typo 70% off bargains for friends and family bits and pieces, Celtic and Co hot water bottle, and massive amounts of Hotel Chocolat.

And the very, very best, my Eufy robo-vac, and the hot chocolate shaker, which were both for me Xmas Grin

workingfortheclampdown · 25/12/2020 19:09

MIL said her Hotel Chocolat stocking filler tasted like baking chocolate, hopefully the other recipients will like it better...
I'm loving my Neom candles, Typo stuff has been well received and as well as the Polly Pocket supermarket I got for a song early in the year.

Puffalicious · 25/12/2020 19:46

working bloody MILs!!! I got some as a gift from DH and it's bloody divine!

Bargain Blokus at the last minute fir £15 also a big hit, thanks whoever posted that.

YourHandInMyHand · 25/12/2020 19:54

@puffalicious my ds has had faults with his switch controllers and we have sent them away for repair, the service is good but then you'd not have it while it was away beogn repaired. I'd possibly see if they have one in stock where you bought it from first.

Glad the brio farm has gone down well, mine is put away for DS Birthday in January. Smile

mogtheexcellent · 25/12/2020 20:30

DH loves his Boris badger slippers. Not a bargain as such but still. Grin

Haven't made the cinnamon buns as due to tier 4 restrictions I'm missing 4 adults so currently the only one here who eats them. Will be fine another time though. Grin

The gin deal from m&s went down a treat with DSis who hadn't managed to get any for herself. I'm drinking the bargain seedlip selection.

PinkDaydreams · 25/12/2020 20:42

@sorryiasked

Good morning everyone! I was one of the lucky M&S bargain gin recipients and that went down very well last night. I clearly missed out on the "back of the Christ bargains thread" though Grin
Oops, I meant Christmas threads Blush not Christ threads!!

I missed the brio farm deal, gutted as my little one has recently got into trains

Puffalicious · 25/12/2020 21:53

Thanks yourhand I'll try them first.

Bluewavescrashing · 25/12/2020 22:02

My best bargains were

£10 off £10 gin mini selection from John Lewis - just paid postage

Rocket and Rose £5 each personalised t shirts

£6.99 Polar Express 1000 piece puzzle

£3 something Wax Lyrical candle

£11 merino Lands End jumper

£5 chilly style bottles from tesco

£5 tamgotchis from Tesco

Lisa Angel hip flask, jewellery, cufflinks, decorations for a couple of £ each

Rex London stocking fillers-various, super cheap

Fake Oodie for DD-£12 from amazon

Thanks to everyone on these threads--all gifts were very well received and you've been great company.

JinglesWish · 25/12/2020 22:08

Best bargain from these threads was the Jurassic World Colossal Velociraptor for £17.50 from Argos (think it’s usually £70!!). Thank you to whoever posted the deal!!

I bought the cinnamon buns and just used them as an additional present for someone else (totally not needed). Next year I need to remember not to get caught up in a group “must buy” unless I really think it’s useful 😂

SparklingLime · 25/12/2020 22:11

Dunelm Snow Leopard Cuddle cushion give to one nephew had caused sibling warfare so another will be on order as soon (if) they are in stock again...

livingthegoodlife · 26/12/2020 13:37

Best bargains:

Brio farm world - fab
Barbie dream house - amazing
Sylvanian country home Argos bargain - great because I then had enough budget to buy loads of furniture
Hotel Chocolat hampers
John Lewis Harry potter Lego
Switch Tesco - such s surprise

My only bad bargain was the star wars candles.

Feeling pretty happy!

XmasLockdown · 26/12/2020 14:03

I got all the Lego sets with reduced price apart from Razor Crest that didn't get reduced and in the end sold out. Dc got loads of Lego. Oh I got adult Lego set half price from Argos for dh birthday.

Unicant · 26/12/2020 14:06

I got my 2yodaughter some second hand happy land sets from Facebook selling for a tenner... I got the treehouse and the house and the wobble along snail.... she loved them so much when went in to wake her up this morning she'd put all of them in her bed with her! Plusa my little ponyand a barbie she had also got... it was super cute. She was curled up in a ball surrounded by all this stuff she'd obviously fallen asleep playing with in the dark

lexloofah · 26/12/2020 14:50

That is cute Unicant

Thank you to whomever tipped off about bargain price on The Boy, Fox, Mole, Horse book months ago. It was too good not to buy but no idea who for so sat in the wardrobe until MIL mentioned she heard it being read out on the radio. A lovely last minute gift for her.

DD setting up bargain Gravitrax right now, looks cool

Used my little Spode bowl yesterday and today, love it

I hope everyone had a happy, peaceful Christmas

Someaddedsugar · 26/12/2020 15:19

@Unicant I'm just pretty sure we've got a Happyland playground set that needs a new home. I'll need to double check but if we still have it I could post out this week for your little one?

We're having a bit of a post Christmas clear out to make room for the new toys and I'm starting to think I should have done this before Christmas as it's taking forever and isn't helped by DS deciding to play with everything as soon as I find a new home for it!

Raindancer411 · 26/12/2020 17:20

@moldrum

The John Lewis Sylvanian house that was a definite pricing error is a real hit with our resident 6 year old , so a massive thank you to the spotter of that one!
Your welcome 😂 Mine is in storage currently as daughter is only 7mths lol
jocktamsonsbairn · 26/12/2020 18:09

The wax lyrical candies were well and truly loved by all recipients, as were the QVC bargain it's Neom candies and l'occitane shower gels!
DD abd DN absolutely love their marshmallow toasting kits and dd and Ds both loved their brownie in a mug kit which I think was a vodaphone deal!
Christmas socks from Amazon for an extremely bargain out price were well received too as were the pop art figures someone posted a link to! The Grid it and laptop bag that I got for almost free thanks to eBay links were also a hit!
So all in all a very successful bargain shopping spree for me and lots of fab presents that I probably wouldn't have thought of! Thank you all!!

jocktamsonsbairn · 26/12/2020 18:10

Ooh and the Spicery kits with referral links! We're having tacos this week apparently from the taco legend kit dd got!

mummyof2boys30 · 26/12/2020 19:46

Ok play game by Big potato. Think i got it for arpund £2 odd as i used the 10 amazon small business offer. We have had hours of fun with it already

Thisyearis2020 · 27/12/2020 12:44

To those who managed to get one of the green Bodum tea presses for £3:95 in time to give it as a Christmas present:

If the recipient checks the price online they might think you were very generous as they are back to their original price of £20.

UndeadSlut · 27/12/2020 12:56

Anyone else reading this having never looked at the Christmas Bargain threads, now thinking "I really should do that!"?

I got the free Google nest mini from Spotify that I spotted somewhere else online, and gave it to my nearly nine year old, he was over the moon! We have a nest display in our kitchen and he's constantly asking it daft questions so he'll be able to do that to his heart's content in his room now 😁

Bezzi · 27/12/2020 13:11

I got so much stuff from the bargain threads, it made Christmas so easy and everything was so well received. I can't wait til they start up again for next year.
Best bargains were:
Tokyo laundry dressing gown
Photo coasters
THE buns
Echo dot on prime day for £8.99
Neon sheep stuff for stockings
Fairy houses
The ice cream cart
The tartan scarves
The snow globe gin!
THE candles

Thanks to everyone who suggested stuff for my MILs stocking, she was over the moon! She especially loved the gorgeous little Christmas Carol book, that's to whoever found that

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 27/12/2020 16:41

The big hits for dd1 (12) was the stranger things clothes from primark, stranger things funkos from toysforapound and a box full of kukubird bargains. Plus a cat print hoodie from hype. (Ugliest thing ever but she adores it!!)

Dd2 (8) was the lol clubhouse and omg dolls I got when the entertainer had 10% off which stacked with the 20% off birthday code. She also adores the cave club t-rex which my sister bought in amazon black Friday.

numbcheek · 29/12/2020 23:21

Anyone else's wax lyrical candle burning like fire...it's not a normal flame. I only lit it once. Wish I'd given it away now.
